So how are those 8-10 year old HID bulbs doing for ya?
I recently created a small plug n play retrofit bi-xenon HID kit for my other car, and figured that I might as well replace my original 2005 D2S bulbs that are in the C55 because they're becoming a little dim after 135,000 miles. Much to my surprise, this is what I pulled out of the driver's side headlight...
Somehow it looks like it's been getting a little hot, and the outside glass actually started melting and splitting itself apart. I think the inside glass bulb started to melt and deflect, then merged with the outer glass. Interesting indeed.
Anyway, put new bulbs in (original OEM Phillips 85122's) and now I'm back to original light output. A little more yellow than the original ones that were pretty blue by now (they color shift as they get older as well as get dimmer). A little scary as it actually looks a little green at first

Anyway, my last shameless plug is that I'm also now a reseller of anything from The Retrofit Source, so if we want to do a group buy or something (on anything) I may be able to get us a few dollars off here or there.
