PSS9s & Other ADJUSTABLES

I've been SERIOUSLY thinking of taking a double bullet (c32 and 996) and purchasing PSS9s for both. I'm not concerned as much for the 996 as it is mostly a "non-snow" car, however I have been advised that driving an adjustable coil-over system in "salty" winters will cause headaches as the threaded collars will pit/decay. Any one else experience anything like this with winter driving on these system.

I would prefer to get the MOST aggressive Spring available (??)and Koni adjustables but do not want to "repeat" the process to do it "right" if that setup is not aggressive enough.

HELP!

TIA

rust problems or not

i am no expert in metals or corrosion potential, but my PSS9 set appears to be stainless bodies and aluminum collars, my opinion is neither is effected by the wet/salty conditions. ALUMINUM--STAINLESS STEELE

Good question.

All of the COs for C32 are made the same as far as height adjustment is concerned. Same materials etc, nobody has squawked about this so I don't think it will be an issue even in the great White North.

I do suggest you talk to a northern forum (Canada) and see what they say about COs in general for a better long term history of your question.

If it is a real issue, I think spraying with something like WD40 once a year would probably help quite a bit.

They do. My C32 is running on KW varient 2 coil overs. Granted, when I placed my order I was told none were in stock in the US and I had to wait 3 weeks for them to make and import my coil overs from Germany! (complete with German installation instructions, lol).

you are correct

I just checked the site and the V-1 and V-2 are available for the w203 but not the V-3's.

How did you find it transformed the car & what did you pay if you do not mind me asking?

Thanks

WHY..

am i NOT surprised

Harris how do the prices of the various coil-over systems compare, and what is your "subjective /objective" opinions on each.

You can PM me at lpspeedster@netscape.net if you feel that is more appropriate.

TIA

I like my KW V-2's

I like the KW V-2's. The car is now lowered a bit, and while the stock suspension likes to dive the front end on hard braking and has considerable body roll, both of these effects have been dramatically tamed. Ride comfort on ordinary roads is still pretty good, the only trouble I have is on one or two blocks in Washington DC where there are literally 2-3 pot holes per square yard -- on these two blocks (under construction!) I have to make sure I take it slowly or the ride is very harsh.

I paid about $1600 for parts and freight, with installation (and a oil change I had performed at the same time) the total bill came out to a bit less than $2200.

One thing about the KW's is that the rebound adjustment is (I think -- I have not yet actually changed my adjustment from what the shop did for me!) performed using a continiously rotatable control which can rotate through a few rotations. I gather from other posts that most other CO's have discrete adjustment points, e.g., 10 settings. This is probably a plus if you want to very precisely adjust the CO and probably a negative if you just want to dial up/down the rebound and quickly make sure that each CO is set identically.

Thanks CSCHOW, as for lack of discrete adjustment points

Sounds like my Koni Yellow Adj on my 1989 911. They are also of a variable type -where i have to rotate it say, 1-10 full turns from its lowest position. Is that the case w/ the KW's? I also wondering if Koni would be involved in the manufacturing of this setup. Does anybody know any info on this?
