Nitrous?

Will the engine cope, and has anyone tried it? How did you plumb it? As for the ninnys that say "the car is fast enough already," go yell to mom that you are ready to be dressed and leave me alone.

I installed a nitrous system on a customers SL500 with no problems. You have to introduce the nitrous upstream of the mass airflow sensor so the computer can make its calibrations for the extra air/ NO2. Inside the mass airflow sensor is where the intake air charge sensor is located. Once the cool nitrous hits the mass airflow sensor the IAT sensor gets cold by the NO2 and therefore commands a rich condition from the ECM. The kit I installed was a 125 shot from NOS Systems. Car has had no problems at all, customer is happy except for having to fill bottles. Hope this answers your question.

I have been contemplating whether to supercharge my E430 or "supercharging in a bottle" NOS. The key factor in my case is since my vehicle is still under warranty I would perfer a system that can be remove within hours if warranty repairs at the dealership were required.

As with any go-fast performance components, there's plenty of tech info that's accompained with it's fair share of misinformation...I have found that MR X and Gary@ Evosport has provided me with some vital detailed information for my vehicle.

Thanks Richard. The one thing with bottle feeding a motor, is having to refill and replace the 10lbs bottle. So if anyone is planning on installing a kit on there Merc I recommend that you get NO2 pressure guages and a bottle warmer. Very important as the NO2 likes to stay at a nice cozy temp to maintain adequate pressure within the bottle. Guages are nice, lets you know when your running out. IMOP I like to be force fed. Bottle never runs out.

NITROUS?

VOMIT, ARE YOU SERIOUS ABOUT NOS? REALLY, IF YOU WANT MORE POWER, RATHER SPEND MONEY ON UPGRADING THE S/CHARGER, OR EVEN ADD TURBOS OR SOMETHING. IMO NOS IS NOT A GOOD IDEA BECAUSE THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS THAT CAN GO WRONG. JUST MY HUMBLE OPINION. GOTTA GO NOW, MOMMY IS WAITING TO DRESS ME!!!!

NOS won't hurt your car if its installed right. especially on an automatic... you can choose to trigger it when the car is under WOT. i mite do it!

The underlying critical factors are careful planning of installation & proper dyno tuning...as long as you respect the system and don't go beyond the parameters nitrous can be fun, fast and affordable.

Go for other options, NOS just seems like a last term thing or for track use only you know? It's not like you'd be able to use it all the time and such.

You guys are, as LorinserCClass would put it, L O C O.

Man putting the engine under that much strain across heradic shots of N...I can only imagine what the outcome would be like. If you're planning to return the car from a lease, go for it...if you tend to keep and drive your car for a few more years, try at your own risk, and if you don't give a hoot's a$$ of whether your car bursts in flames, spits out parts rather than gas fumes, and running straight at something with no possibility of braking in time GO FOR IT!

NOS CAN! Hurt your can even @ WOT and with an elec. valve and direct port, and a pressure reg. on both the gas and the nos. I ran 90-120-145-180-200 shots on my 1998 Lexus GS 400 before and after I supercharged it. $3000 in tuning and finding which cylinder runs leaner than all the rest because there is ALWAYS one that does. I hope you can take out every plug you have for the first 10 shots of NOS to inspect the plugs. (very fun and time consuming). Oh yeah when and if you ping your ecu will pull timing and you will run slower. Oh yeah you may need a fuel pump because you will need more fuel... THE ONLY THING THAT I WOULD DO WOULD BE FOG THE AIR BOX AT A 10HP SHOT. THIS WILL COOL THE AIR DOWN A LOT MAKING IT MUCH MORE DENSE AND THE ECU WILL ADAPT AND YOU WILL GAIN MORE THAN 10HP PROBABLY.

even if you get 390RWHP to the c32 how do you plan hooking up the tires when you are not at the track with slicks? I ran the same time in the GS 400 with a 140 shot as I did with the 200 becasue the tires slipped in 2nd, 3rd gear. 13.2 @ 106 4200lb car w/ supra LSD 275/35/19's...

end result blew engine even with perfect tuning. the problem is getting it to be perfect. DO NOT BE THE FIRST ONE!

$11,000 new engine; 6,000 NOS; 7,000 S/C; 4,000 tranny, 4,000 suspension, 3,000 rims/tires, 5,000 other mods... My c32 will run faster w/19"s

I have been looking into this subject for some time now. I have had NOS on my other Benz's without a prob. From all the info I have found and the tech's I have spoke too, the C32 MIGHT hold a small shot in stock trim. But when modified you have to worry about cylinder pressure and your ecu. Even if air fuel is ok you can still have excess cylinder pressure and break rings. I personally love nitrous but I definetly would not reccomend it on a C32.

GS AMG's idea

What about GS AMG's idea of just using the nitrous to, as he puts it, "fog the airbox and cool the intake air down." This sounds pretty innocuous (and we all know how much better our cars run with cool intake air coming into the beast). Anyone try this?
