Wup'd A Cobra

Oh ya, I pull up on the toll road and see a late model yellow cobra getting on 1/2 mile ahead; I hit the gas and @ 110 MPH it takes me about 4 miles to catch him. I pause behind him @ 100 and then he guns it. I hit the gas @ 5 car lengths behind him and pull him in in about 8-9 seconds pass him at 11 secs and then turn into his lane @ 145+MPH. I wonder what he thought when a four door pulled him in and ran away

He had modfied exhaust and was runninng rich when he down shifted as slight smoke came from his tailpipes, maybe a moded ECU with intake?. Anyway was fun.

I have ODPS w/ stage-one evosport; SL55 Y Splitter; 19" superleggera III's, HR coilovers.

Wow, you out-gunned a cobra. That's powerful!
I see you have the Superleggra III on HR, did you fender-roll to avoid rub?

I rub in the front and had to use 1/16" spacers I also still rub when I hit a bump really hard at slow speed. The fronts need to be ground down more where the bolt is... As long as you use Yokohama, Falken,.. NOT Michelin or Dunplap (NO straight side wall in teh bvack or it will rub).

Must've been a non-supercharged Cobra (the 390 HP one would have given you a much better run, especially with the mods that the one you raced had). Nice kill! Anyone out there run the 390 HP supercharged one with their C32? How'd you do?

vomit it was neck and neck it took a LOOOONG time to pass, it had to be the SVT. I smoke the regular ones all time like walking the dog...

Sweet! If it gave you a good run it must've been the SVT. I think that the low coefficient of drag of the C32 (.028?) really plays a big role at high speeds. This is why C32's can get 180 MPH out of "only" 350 HP, while other cars with similar power top out in the mid 160 range. You figure that your 3500 LB Evosported C32 is probably putting out 400+ engine HP, and that the 3300 LB Rustang is putting out 390 (plus whatever mods he has), and the low speed race should be really close. At high speeds, however, lots of the Rustang's HP gets eaten up by an inefficient shape. Comparatively, the C32's slippery shape means that relatively few of your ponies are being consumed at 140 MPH. The Rustang, with its "bulldog in need of plastic surgery" shape, is really hitting a wall of air at high speeds. My guess is that you started to pull him progressively faster at higher speeds. Correct?

I'd really like to run with a Z06 vette or a first gen Viper!

ZO6

No way they weigh nothing. 400hp/390lb tq... evo 1 kit could take a reg. vette, but not the ZO6, maybe stage 2 evo would stand a better chance. Hope we don't turn

The caddy CTS -V with the ZO6 LT6 would be a better race same engine A-LOT more weight and drag.
