looking at a c55 please help

I need advice on this. I am a little concerned with a few things.

The car has 60k miles but it was a lease car therefore it had five owners.

Its being sold by a infependent dealer and they are giving me a good price. 12,500

Should i be scared of the fact that it was a lease car?

I don't think that it's a lease car should worry you. 5 owners is more scary. What documentation does the car have? Service history? etc.

I got the complete carfax til april this year.

The only red flag is this(see below)Looks like it was sold at auctions a few times. Lookslikeit was serviced at the mb dealer around 30k miles.

Power steering pump was also replaced.

If you like it, buy it.

check the structural damage and repair for the front end in particular and the rear...price seems good, if you like it make an offer.

CLK i bought was listed at 17,999

I went in and literally told them everything it needed to get replaced (including bs premature items)
Basically told them it would sit on their lot and needs a lot of work-dont really know if it meant much, but im sure they wanted to sell it

Walked out for 14.8k, so their prices are very negotiable

Honestly that is low miles for the car. Auction just means it was traded in, and the dealer didn't want it on his lot, so he auctioned it.
Look for the usual pre-inspection items, and if possible get an SDS quick scan. The scan will uncover most electrical gremlins, but not mechanical like bushings and flex disks.

I was looking at C43's when I landed the C32 in my garage :)

Its just a bit sketcy that hes selling it that low with that many miles.

Also if it hasnt been serviced I will be apriaching major service soon.

Carfax reports 67k last so its aproaching 70k. It will need many new things soon no?

Have the car serviced by a dealer prior to purchase, run a pre-purchase inspection, and have them run the SDS scan for issues. If all OK, I would not hesitate to buy it.

PJmak 09-16-2016 01:26 PM

How much is an inspection like that?

kbob999 09-16-2016 01:40 PM

Probably $2-300 for pre-purchase & scan, maybe $1000 for service (depending on what work is required).

The price doesn't seem that low for a 5-owner car that's been in an accident.
As others have said, get a PPI. Spending a couple of hundred dollars can save you thousands down the road.

Gave up on this car.

The search continues.

Our budget is 13k or lower cash. Colors prefered white, red, and the lught blue.

These cars are so low in value, your search must be pretty difficult. It's not like there are a lot of nice cars for even a little more money. Good luck with your search and let us know how it goes.

I got mine for for about 10,500 (after talking the dealer down) with 87,000 miles. The car only had one previous owner.

Good Luck, I searched for a while and wished I pulled the trigger on one I saw with 30,000 miles for 17,500. They go fast so don't wait too long.
