C55 brake upgrade to 6/4 pot AMG calipers

4 Attachment(s)
Over the holiday week I did a brake conversion on my 2006 C55. I know this subject's been covered on this board multiple times and I found it very resourceful. However, I think I found a much cheaper option for the front brake rotors than any that have been covered here, so sharing it with the audience.

I sourced 6/4 piston brake calipers from an non 030 package 2006 SLK55. The process was a relatively straightforward bolt-on project which cost me approximately $1,800 in parts. Below are the parts I used:

SLK 6/4 piston calipers (salvage parts $1000)
Front Brembo rotors (Amazon $250-$280/piece) part #09.9254.33
Rear Bosch rotors (Rock Auto $63.99/piece) part #36011506
Front pads Centric (Rock Auto $29.79/set) part #10411160
Rear pads Centric (Rock Auto $20.99/set) part #10409840
Motive pressure bleeder (Amazon $60)

This was a true bolt-on project. The only modification needed was to the rear dust shields, where some material had to be cut away to fit the larger calipers. I am extremely happy with the results and cost of the parts. Took me over a year to do the research and collect all the parts, but the final result was well worth it.

If anyone is curious about the AMG wheel shown, it's a C63 wheel with spacers.

Thanks to the board for all the good information.

I take it this means the stock wheels would no longer fit? I just refinished mine and have a winter setup too, but this car could use more brake.

Looks good and seems to be the easiest and cheapest route. :y

Stock wheels will fit just fine, I have both.

Well sheeeeit, time to start collecting parts. Thanks for the list. :y

Great job looks lovely, and those prices are amazing. The discs look like the 2 piece floating ones from the 030 to me, whats the size of them? To my knowledge they should be 360mm x 32.

I have the same setup, but it cost me a lot, I just used a VIN off a CLK63 and bought everything from MB, brand new.

My stock C55 wheels did not fit my brake setup. The front wheels rubbed on the calipers. IMO if it didn't its a little too close for comfort with stock wheels, the offset on them is strange, I went with CLK63 rims.

Thanks for all the thumbs up!
The front rotors are actually the 340mm non 030 package, but are two piece just like the 360mm 030's.
I searched long and hard to find the front rotors and it just so happens that Brembo started making aftermarket replacements not that long ago. I was shocked that Amazon was selling them for well under $300.

good job, didn't know the Rotors was that cheap..

Here is the Brembo page with part #'s:

And here are the front rotors on Amazon:

The problem is, one cannot see the actual disc on Amazon. How you managed to make out that is the correct one fails me. Did you enquire with the seller for photos of the disc or what? I looked yesterday. Went through 15 pages and I was like nope, cant search any longer but damn at that price they are definitely worth it.

Khan 55 01-06-2017 12:38 AM

scratch that. I see the Brembo part number is what you used when searching Amazon. Thanks once again.

Amazon has stock photo. For me the description and the Brembo info sealed the deal. What's nice too is that the 360mm 030 package rotor is also available at a low $300 price tag.

Hope this info helps everyone looking for a quality replacement rotor at huge savings over dealer and other aftermarket suppliers. Enjoy!

Amazon Description: Aluminum Hub - Considerable weight reduction of the disc, with benefits in terms of performance and emission reduction
Braking Surface-Hub Connection - Allows braking surface of the floating discs to expand without causing permanent deformation

I might me wrong; but i don't think (360mm) Rotor is less than ($390>>$500),,

*Clk55 & Slk55 (340mm) #: "09.9254.33"

https://www.amazon.com/Brembo-09-925.../dp/B00XRBZGEE

*Clk63 (360mm) #: "09.9547.33"

https://www.amazon.com/Brembo-09-954.../dp/B00XRBZLKS

also, PartsGeek & Walmart selling them in the same Range:-

cm60k 01-06-2017 10:47 AM

Do you measure if the Rotors you already installed are (340mm) or (360mm)..??

;ZAYED;

boxert 01-06-2017 11:07 AM

Mine are 340mm, 340 was also stamped on the rotor.

cm60k 01-06-2017 11:12 AM

(340mm) = Brembo's part # should be "09.9254.33", not "09.9547.33"..!,

Amazon have to be more specify about the part # for "Clk55/Slk55 vs Clk63"..:)

;ZAYED;

boxert 01-06-2017 11:20 AM

Man, you are not reading it right. 09.9254.33 is the 340mm which I chose. The 09.9547.33 is the 360mm which is also available.

boxert 01-06-2017 11:21 AM

The Amazon listing I showed two posts above was the 360mm option.

cm60k 01-06-2017 11:24 AM

I see my friend,

but when i contacted with Amazon, they said; if you choose or order (360mm) "09.9547.33", they will send "09.9254.33",

as a wrong part # & details for (360mm) vs (340mm)..!!

that's the main confusion point..:nix:

boxert 01-06-2017 11:50 AM

Not sure why they would do that unless their own house is screwed up.
I got my 340mm rotors from two different sources on Amazon. One was around $240 from Amazon Prime and the other from an Amazon dealer for about $280. Amazon had one in stock and one on back order for 5 months so I got tired of waiting for the second one and paid a little more.

Either way, these are good affordable options with top quality.

boxert 01-06-2017 12:01 PM

And for anyone interested in the Brembo 360mm option, here is the info...
