C55 spoiler removal
The paint on my diamond black C55 trunk lid spoiler is quite faded. Currently I have it Plasti dipped to Black which has held up surprisingly well but it doesn't look right. I am going to probably vinyl wrap it this weekend, but I'm not sure how to get it off. Is it just 3M panel tape?
Also if anyone has done this I would appreciate some wisdom. Any recommendations on vinyl color? I know carbon fiber is kind of played out these days.

A blow dryer is not strong enough.......Go to Harbor Freight and get a heat gun for $14. There are 2 settings.......start at one end carefully use the low heat at the contact point...spoiler/deck lid..........and do warm-up a 4" section at a time. Use a thin plastic putty applicator and gently pry up each section you do and put a thin shim under the spoiler so it doesn't come in contact with the deck lid. It'll take some time to do the spoiler but it should come off without a hitch.
Above all......be patient...........
Post a few pics, too, so all C55 forum members can see the progress!
In 2006, the rear spoiler on my '05 C55 began to lift about 2" on the right rear corner and a MB dealer service tech removed and reinstalled with double-sided 3M tape. Simple as that!

So there are no screws/nuts/bolts holding the spoiler to the trunk lid? Belt and suspenders?
I'd be interested in pics of the C55 without the rear spoiler. I wonder if the side profile would look less forward rakish without.
