NEW C55 revisions + other benz news!!
hey guys, I don't check this forum much, but i recently read benz will crank up the HP even more for new C55 AMG. (sorry if repost).
the C55 will have 408HP naturally aspirated in order to outdo the new BMW M3's v8 or 400HP by 8HP. not only that but other revisions have been made in order to help it demolish bmw.
On a side note I just saw Car and Driver TV show on the new SL600 (493HP 590lb torque). Their performance numbers were rediculous....
0-60 in 3.6sec
1/4 in 11.9 sec
ALL STOCK!! making it faster than the porsche 911 GT2 and dodge viper (as stated by show). Thats not even the SL65 which will have nearly 730lbs of torque
Just thought i'd share, hope i'm not doing a repost.

Is this going to be in the 2006 C55? Or will they release it in the later 2005 models? How does this work exactly if people are buying C55's now with the 362hp? Will they simply "chip" the C55's already bought that want the upgrade?

or maybe the W204 AMG.
The M273 (4valve V8) will replace the current M113 below.
Variants of M113 are used in Mercedes V8 (ex. S500)... modified in AMG (ex. E55).
The next AMG replacement will be based on the M273 (S550???)... it might be C55, C60, C63 or maybe C65.

point is, AMG and MB does it again...ALREADY to C55 owners...talk of a hp bump already? Sounds like it could happen in the w203 body...but already we know in 2 years the C55 will be dated...again/ Sad but I love the fact that BMW wont be able to match the hp numbers, again.

I don't understand why MB is in such a rush to release these engines so fast. If this engine (AMG V8 with 406 hp), makes it to the SLK55 in the next year or so, I will be complaining, and wanting the new car for no charge.
Think that's possible ?

CLK63 Black Series
If they release a C65, i want to be on the waiting list.. i am willing to trade the C and CLK for that car..the C65 will be a beast but yeah, it's not possible, traction issues and engine space.. there is no way they can fit a V12 + TT under that hood and with only 245 for rubber in the rear?? hmm..

ex-C32
C55 is going to need the hp if cannot best the C32 in straight line acceleration. It was a 1/10th off my car with my father driving(13.7 vs. 13.8). My C32 was on squealing Toyo Proxes 4 all seasons. The another C32 was within 1/10th of the C55.
18s look nice though and I love what they did to the front end.

hmmm....its possible they may have quoted the 408 hp numbers for the next-gen V8 with 4-valves/cylinder. I remember seeing those hp numbers and the C63 being mentioned in another euro car mag, but it stated that was slated for the next-gen AMG C-class.

AMG shouldn't be concentrating on straight line performance only. Of course they are always going to beat BMW in terms of power and torque but is that all there is to performance vehicles these days?
408hp in the next C55 sounds nice and looks good on paper but IMO it's all marketing at the moment. I am more interested to see how it will handle

hey guys, the picture is current body style so i think its supposed to go into effect very soon. v12 will be hard but thats probably why they went with a 6.3L BIG bore V8 instead of a smaller V12 b/c the actual v12 block is much larger in both width and length. 6.3L big block V8 is almost american muscle car territory. anyways either way its awesome.
I already have a E36 M3 which is the best handling BMW Of all time so i wouldn't mind having a awesome straight line performer . with benz underrating all their figures who knows how fast and powerful it really be, its the only company i know of that completely states worse times and figures where as most other companies boast unrealistic claims, goes to show you benz is always a few years ahead of the competition.

I do not think the US is supposed to get the 6.3L V8 equipped AMG. If we do, I will rush right out to buy one as it will be a deal at anything around $70K provided they fit it with additional upgardes. It would be a true replacement for the monster W202 C55 AMG that the US also did not get. Now that was an AMG!

I wouldn't be surprised if Mercedes comes out with that new engine for MY2006. Just look at the CLK55. 2004 came with twin exhaust pipes and 17 inch tires. 2005 now comes with 18 inch tires and quad exhaust. If I had known that in 2003 when I got mine, I would've definitely waited. I just assumed that my car was the way the body style was going to be until they came out with a whole new model of CLK. But unfortunately it seems Mercedes likes to change their models every few years. It makes me mad. How would you like to know that your C55 will be out powered in just a few short years?? If it was 4 or 5 years then I guess you couldn't complain, that is expected, but to keep changing in the time frame of 2 to 3 years is bad.
Anyone feel this way.
I'm just pissed that my 2003 CLK55 is outdated now thans to the new 2005. Plus the dealer says my car is worth *****.
