Just read this from a mag and learned that the 306hp C43 launched in 1997 was a year later (in 1998) replaced by a 347hp 5.5 litre engine called 'C55'.
What it also said, MB had merged the production figure of 1998 C55 with the C43 just to avoid confusion.
Wonder if this is correct? If this is so, 2004 C55 is not the first 5.5 litre engine on the C Class.
