Sunroof leak! But the drains are fine! Sunroof frame?
My 2006 C280's sunroof has started leaking.
I think I've opened it like twice in the time I've owned it - and I'm the original owner!
Recently when the snow melted, water dripped through.
The dealer claims it is the sun roof frame that needs to be repaired - and it'd cost $3K. Is this for real? Why would the frame be damaged? There's never been an accident and it opens/closes just fine.
In the meantime, I've tried some cheaper things... testing the drains - they're good. There's no standing water in the tray/track.
I had them replace the seal around the sunroof - and that reduced the amount of water leaking in when it rains, but it still leaks.
Any other ideas on what to do here? Or a cheaper place I could bring this to in the NYC area?

The recall check was how this all got started! I brought my car in for service, they checked the sunroof for the recall (likely opening it for the first time in 10 years), didn't find any problems, and even since then it started leaking!

I would try the stealer-ship again and then if you get nowhere MB corporate office and then report the stealer-ship BBB who usually ask how you would like this issue resolved and they offer resolution option. I have found this can be extremely productive to get the business you are experiencing poor service from to take act more favorably to your concerns. Good luck!
