Raced a S55
I was driving throught Columbia,MD on RT32 this past Saturday. I was going around 65 mph in a 55 mph zone. I look back and see a black benz comming on strong. So,I made him slow to around 70mph. We booth hammered it and ran up to 140mph. At that point I had him by 100'. Traffic made me for him. It was a supercharged S55. I know that the S55 is a bit on the heavy side, but it still made me feel good. The guy had a silly look on his being beat by a baby Benz.

That's very surprising... I thought that even with the Renntech ECU/Pulley that the C32 was still significantly behind the supercharged models in terms of acceleration.... The S55 is only a 1/10 of a second or 2 slower than an E55... By the way, I'm from your neck of the woods...

He was giving it all that he could. Sorry for not listing the settup that I'm running at this time. Changing wheels, lost 6lbs per wheel.

I would have thought that the supercharged high displacement V8 in the S55 would pull harder than your modded C32 over 100mph... Maybe the fact that you're a BSR driving instructor had something to do with it? Some people just wimp out past 100mph...

I personally don't believe this statment, my freind in his new c55 raced a s55 till 120, the s55 had about 2 cars on us the wholetime. But then agian he may have had all air conditioning and all the good stuff on while racing you.

Keep in mind that a Renntech Chip/pulley equipped C32 would toast a C55....

Well, me and a forum member here (benzoAMGpower) have been to the track a few times with his c32 with ECU and pulley and my stock C55. He beats me on the track everytime, (some of it is because i have no idea how to launch). But we have one gone from a highway roll and we were right next to eachother. It seemed like who ever got the jump would go ahead. The C32 still migh beat the C55, but certinily not "toast it".

If that is in fact that case, then there's No Way a modded C32 can beat a supercharged S55 like that.... The S55 driver obviously wasn't fully on it...

even with your mod's you will still get beat by an new S55/E55.... it probably was the older one.... if it was a supercharged one, then he clearly wasn't trying... 100' is a HUGE beating..... you would have to be making like 500+HP to take him by 100'......

How would you see his brakes at 70mph with him originally behind you and than with you supposely 100' ahead???
Link to REAL S55 in action
S55.Launch from 0-120mph----- you probably ran into rebaged S430 and NOT SC S55
Link to 0-100mph bad launch
Going from 90 mph to hte limiter at 157mph

Jon, I'm not questioning the validity of your story vs. these other guys...but power to weight is negated by the small matter of umm, 516lbft?

You have made a good point. I have slightly more tq than hp. You still have to move 4300 lbs. I'm not taking anything away from any other car, just wanted everyone too know what happened over the weekend.

we're not hating... just being realistic.... have you had your car on the dyno or run it at the dragstrip?
let's say both cars have the same power to weight ratio as your describing.... how could you have possibly beat him by 100'???
