I've mentioned this before but it was so long ago, I may as well again. I saw two Designo C43s in the MB Dealership in Paramus NJ back in 1999, one was that copper color, the other was the Designio Metallic Lime Green they were doing... Whoa to the 1st, Whu to the 2nd; very rapper fabulous.
Wonder where they went, if they were sold and remain here in the NE...

1998 C43
That car is one of the nicest and rarest C55's out there.
The original owner is Tony, and it is a true C55.
A lot of Old Schoolers could vouche for it as well.

True W202 C55's were European models only... I'm not 100% sure of this but they may have only been left hand drive too.
A number of mods over a standard C43 than just the 25% bigger engine... Tranni internals were upgraded more, and they used the 1:2.82 rear diff pumpkin of the E55; and due to its size, requiring that the rear diff body tunnel under the rear seats be cut and increased in size ... I'm pretty sure there's a thread on Club202.com or Bnzsport.com that itemize all the modz done to them over a standard C43.
edit: After a quick search, here we go: http://www.club202.com/forums/showth...&threadid=1750 linked to from here: http://www.club202.com/forums/showth...light=tony+c55

I can't help but feel I'm being setup with a lead-in like that..... But I'll bite!
Engine power? I couldn't say... but....
w/the 1:3.07 rear diff gearing we have vs. the 1:2.82 gearing of the Euro C55, it does do a better job @ putting the power to the ground, being close to the optimal for 0-60 or 1/4 mile perf.
This analysis based on dyno @ the wheel numbers @ 500rpm increments being used, using stock gearing, then parameter sensitivity analysis performed to determine the optimal value to a set speed [0-60] or distance [1/4 mile], which you see respectively:
...around 1:3.25 gearing would be optimal...
