Renntech Airbox?

Does Renntech still carry the Airbox for our cars or do we just have to get lucky and find them used? I found this one but Im not sure it would work, says it will fit any 55amg and im guessing that includes the M113 NA 5.4 right? So does the 5.4 airbox fit our cars?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RENNt...item20ae6741dc

$3k shipped sure is a lot of money. I would never buy this new. Yikes!

Dont see how that would fit the C43. That looks like it is made for the 55 kompressor motors, I could be wrong. Plus the claim of adding 30 HP while adding 2 MPG is pretty outlandish...

First one is for Compressor engine. Even if you can adapt it to your engine it won't help your performance without any software modification and exhaust modification. The airflow is still limited by the air restrictor and exhaust.

There are pictures of the first one on 55na motors such as the SLK55. The split style filter was also on the 2000+ w210 E320/430 if you google pictures of the bays. The 1999 C43 has the split setup too in bay. I've seen pictures of it on HSP.

And I wouldn't install this until exhaust was freed up more and I was ready to tune the ECU with pulley kit.

Please post pics of this split setup on a C43... I have a 1999 C43 and do not have a split setup. Mine looks just like the Rentech picture that DRBC43AMG posted.

I am pretty sure you are mistaken. The 2000 C43 had the same motor as the '98 and '99 only real difference was the software for the tranny as well as the tip tronic shifter. I don't see how that air box would fit our motors.

I think your right. Its just the covers that fit. Not the filter.

Yeah, that is the HPS style covers that were made to fit all the different m113's they were tuning at that time. Remember that their blower package was not optimized for the C43 specifically, so all the m113's got the same treatment (and theoretically the same final output as well)....or at least that is what I remember, though it has been a while since I have followed.

I am sooooo wrong. This is the SLK55 setup that should work. Not the split. Ugh.

I Wish that engine cover would fit too...

This is pretty interesting read also... Maybe ill just mod the stock top and wrap the entire cover with Matte CF.

It is not so easy to cover the original Airbox with cf. There are a lot of stiffeners and hard corners. Next you need a resin with temperature resistance of more than 100°C and you need a annealing furnace to obtain the full temperature resistance.
Another big problem is that the elongation of cf and plastic (ABS) ist totally different. This will cause the cover to be splittet from the plastic or if not, it will deform your airbox.

I Wish that engine cover would fit too...
The engine cover of the new M113 models (W203, W209) does fit to the C43 engine. But you need to replace the air filters (different dimensions) and the supply tubes.

You'd have to check airbox to hood clearance, but they will attach to our engine. The 55K airboxes will fit as well with some minor tweaks. I believe Money One was running 55K airboxes when he had his NA 55 engine.

Just so we are all on the same page here, by wrapping, I mean the 3M matte CF from Don. Not actual CF. Based on all the reviews I have read from other section on this intake setup, this is nothing but the same intake bottom as our current unit with a CF top sitting on it and it comes with K&N style filters and that's the only reason you might see a difference. So to me this mod is more based on looks than function, so why not source a SLK55 engine cover (Looks much nicer) and wrap the filter/intake section with 3M CF and bam, you have saved your self $2 or 3k and it will work just the same with Green or K&N filters... You can also cut out the intake tabs in your grille and remove the plastic slats from our stock lid or the SLK55 lid to create more noise and a faster air flow through. If you like.

Or the S55 AMG Cover with custom piping running to the grille w/green filters??? I am really just trying to dress up my engine bay and maybe gain some noise and 1/2 HP while at it. The replacement cover for my car new is close to $500 new, if I am going to spend that kind of money, I might as well find an updated looking cover right?

Just spoke with Park Place Mercedes and for the full air cleaner and front engine cover on a 01-02 S55 its $545.00 That is the same price as my old cover new...

PhotoChop anyone?!

More pictures of the airbox. Might just buy the airbox rear piece now $330 and get the front piece $220 later. I have a friend that can order MB parts whole sale from the dealership so I think I could get both for under $400... Thats almost the price of an aftermarket intake for normal car.

Or dare to dream, problem with this, is I would have someone's AMG plate:

And then there is this $4k option!!! WTF

After talking with the seller, it will fit the NA 5.4 motor and thus should fit our cars just fine.

The first pic is a modified normal one for that model year. The second one of the C43 is of an ML55 engine cover. (which happens to be eactly what I've been looking for as I have the same HPS setup, but don't have a cover currently. )

If anyone happens to stumble across an ML55 cover for sale, please, please, prease let me know.

Cheers!
