brace yourselves for a "master of the obvious" / stupid question moment
i was looking at my car through the window of my house today (as i do pretty often, lol), and my eyes wandered towards the driver's side rear wheel well, and i noticed that i could see my exhaust can through the rear of the wheel well. i thought, "huh, that's interesting." anyway, to make a long story short, i think i lost a wheel well liner. am i right? just checking. not sure how or when i lost that thing ...
and yes, i know my car is dirty as hell!

I think you have indeed lost a flap but I'm not 100% sure. Will check when I get back home tonight. As our European cars sit much lower than the N.American versions, its the kind of detail one doesn't see without looking closely

It is hard to tell the condition of the liner from your pictures, but it is normal to see the mufler on all the W202's. The plastic liner stops short of covering the muffler.

Your car looks normal, but you need to remove the wheel to inspect it fully. That said, I think you're fine. My liner on that side was busted when I first bought the car. But the part that was broken was the longer part that extends down and connects to the bumper skin. Yours is connected, mine had broken off down low.
Last summer I picked up another one. They're pretty cheap, less than $40 if I remember right.
