I know i haven't had it changed. Looked through some old paper work which i received with car i found that the transmission has been changed in 2007 but its not clear if has or hasn't. Nothing mensions valve body.
What if i got all other parts and see if it works if it does great if it doesn't then i have to get valve body. It wont damage anything if it doesn't work?

The ordinary 5w shifter(which we have now), does not has code, only needs recognition it with the TCU, when replaced it to a new one,,
but the Tip-tronic shifter need to coding it with TCU/ECU,, and this can be done with a STAR/DAS.....

So, cm60k. You say that this has been done. Was it on a me2.0 car? Because me2.0 and egs51 have a different CAN id structure from me 2.1 and egs52 and newer for some info and I do not see how it could work without swapping the ME also. Unless the EGS52 is programmed to read the messages both ways. ME 2.0 sends the torque message out on a different id than the newer stuff. The egs52 would not be looking for the correct message. They also send out different can messages. ME only looks at one that I am aware of but that message stream is very different on egs52 tcu as well.
As far as the shifter goes and installing the egs52 the wiring would all have to be added for the shifter. Stop lamp signal, CAN wiring to the CANc bus. Power/ground.
The shifters are physically different also and bolt in differently.
A few things to clear up though are that the cluster is not necessary unless you want the display. The valve body is not different other than updates for shifting issues. If you put a newer valve body in you are supposed to match the tcu and vice versa. It really has nothing to do with tiptronic. Same solenoids and wiring in the transmission. The blue top solenoids are only in the high power cars.
I work a lot with the transmissions on these cars and currently I am breaking down the can messages for the PCS standalone tcu to be integrated into factory equipped cars. From what I gather I do not think that what you guys are trying to do is possible without swapping the ME injection also. It is just a lot of work to not have it work.

As i mentioned before,, the EGS52 swap is a different matter, and i didn’t tried it until now, im talking about the Tip-tronic swap, and when we swapped it, we didn’t had any problem for bolt it on.
If we can’t put Tip-tronic shifter unless we have to change the ME ECU, then why MB kept the same ME2.0 with a Tip-tronic swapped in the C43 pre "99-2000"...??
I talked with "Klaren porehlm" in Bosch, zuffenhausen, Germany year ago, he said: the ECU in "99-2000" still the same, they only reflashed it with a new code(HW MO8), that can be flashed through the SDS/DAS,, when they reflashed it, they replaced with a new part #(which is 113 153 15 79)., also he said: the all SECRET is hidden in the STAR/DAS, and how to use it, and also this is one of the big reason how the TUNING COMPANIES do there tune SECRETLY....
If any models comes to the MB dealer and has a TCU problem, they immediately replacing the TCU from EGS51 to EGS52, and they doing that for any model between "May1999 to Aug2006",, and putting a new DAS software for ECU & TCU,, that’s why they taking a DAMN much much $$$$....,,
There’re "6" type of shifter harness pre "98 to 2002", some of these harness has the same connectors, and can be swapped with a Tip-tronic, just need to change the Recognition switch connector & a Reverse wire,,
i didn’t mentioned that, cause hard to say which model & version of the car that want to be swapped.....
