C36 catch can?
 

Been doing some research on Catch Cans and I don't see a reason not to do this on the 36. Anyone thought about this/done it before?? I know some 43 guys have them (esp. the SC43s) but what about a 36?

I've been thinking about this a lot lately too. I'm eventually going to make an all aluminum intake including crossover pipe, which eliminates the crankcase vents from going into the intake.

Instead -10AN fittings will be welded on and the valve covers will vent to a catch can. Rather than having the hot fumes from the crankcase going into the intake, raising the intake air temps.

Well my research was basically just looking at the point of them and how easy they are to set up. In most cases, they are quite easy with a simple PCV valve and a tube or two leading from the crankcase to the valve (on a VW). I unfortunately have been away from my car for almost 3 months now, and forgot about the crossover pipe vents. I'd go in and look around to refresh my memory on if we have PCV valves/hoses/anything other than the crossover vents, otherwise it seems that yamadjs08's plan is about the only one for us. But if that's what it takes I had been thinking about a fully custom intake anyway, and anything to get the hot, oily, air and in the case of cars with PCV valves, solid oil and fuel buildup out of the intake would be good for me

Be careful if you plan to weld to the valve cover,if its Magnesium you will have alot of trouble..even if its Au you might have trouble with oil getting into it its pours which will lead to weld blow out. make some custom machined fittings for the win.

However you make your catch can just make sure it has plenty of vaccum back into the intake,the more you remove bypass gases and unburnt fuel the longer your oil and engine will live

Thanks for the heads up. How did you do yours? It looks to me like you sealed the two original vent holes and made one rectangular one on the side of the head there?
