I've rebuilt a few engines and I'm curious - What car / engine design has both a timing belt AND a timing chain on the same engine?

I think some Hondas have both a timing belt and a timing chain. The timing chain in these cases is usually an auxiliary drive unit running the variable camshafts, fuel pump, oil pump, or other accessories. On most applications, a timing belt drives the actual camshafts.

timing chains are sometimes replaced on high mileage cars from 100.000 miles and higher due to chain is slacking, plastic rails inside engine are changed too

It's definitely timing chain, as mentioned. If I remember correctly, it's a dual timing chain.

If you well pay more than ($3000) for a service, better to swap a complete Engine to the 5.4L.......

youre right..but the belt that drives the accessories...wouldnt we call it a serpentine belt? and not really a timing belt?

i think my nissan beater has this. one belt for accessories. id think most late 90s car have this interference built in. two belts. one for cams. the other for all other pulleys right?
