Embarrassing question: what's your horn sound like on your C43?

I've had my C43 since 2011 and the horn has never worked. I never cared because I don't use it, I'm a very patient and generous driver.

Anyway I was wrenching on the car today and figured I'd finally figure it out. Just a blown fuse! Replaced it and my horn sounds like this:

Is that normal!? What does your horn sound like?

Hmmmm, I think it should sound like that.

Mine has a sore throat due to lack of use so only has one tone. Guess I should go somewhere in the wilderness and try blowing the cobwebs out of the horn(s).

Oh, by the way, the alarm siren has a totally different sound

I think one of my two horns is broken... The left horn sounds exactly like a tugboat horn and the right sounds like the middle between the two horns you guys have.

Zayed, yeah those are great air horns and definitely clears the road in front of you. We had them in the 60's - 70's, but they are illegal now at least in my part of the European woods...

original, optional, dealer option, or something someone did later, they are definitely OE parts with MB part numbers on them

and they both work, and they work correctly because they sync to create a specific harmony! i've never heard horns like this and I was laughing my butt off, driving around my neighborhood squeaking my little sissy horn. they are VERY loud, though

I think I love them!

Hey Rich,

Nothing special for installation, just matter of wiring,

just prefer to not use Relay that comes with it, it's really bad quality..!,,

better to get "OEM or Bosch", with pins socket..

Your horn sounds different than mine but mine sounds very effeminate as well. Mine is higher pitched. Even my friend's wife commented one time and said her Toyota Highlander has a more manly sounding horn.

Thanks Zayed. One quick silly question however. I have the horn now and it just looks so easy to remove MB horn and plug the two wires from that horn into the new horn. I'm sure it's fused, so I put in a larger fuse and I'm set. Do I really need to wire in a relay??? And if I do wire it in, do I use the two existing horn wires and then just add two more wires and match up to the new horn? Sorry to be so tedious.

My horns also blow a fuse very easily. Anyone got a clue what's up with that?

What amperage fuse do you use and is it the correct on? Perhaps a relay is going down the drain
