Transmission Part# Help
Hi everyone,
I'm seeking help trying to identify this part on the 722.6 transmission. I'm almost certain that it pertains to the oil pump assembly but not 100% certain. It is a coil spring O ring. It has been a few years since I disassembled my transmission to replace every O ring and seal. I've checked the complete transmission rebuild diagrams and can't seem to locate the part. I want to replace it due to a few kinks in the coils. Any and all help is greatly appreciated! Thank you! https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...10967b8984.png |

Looking in MB's Information Parts System, it could be part # A0169971448 (see diagram and part 15 attached)

Unfortunately part#15 in the diagram is the large rubber O ring that seals the oil pump. I've literally checked every part# and can't locate it. It is a complete circle metal coil spring that is exactly 3.5" in diameter. |
Understood. Let me check further inside...

Searched high and low but didn't find something which looks like the part you are looking for. Sorry 😖

I appreciate all your help! I finally figured it out and thought that I'd share it with anyone that runs into the same problem. That part is actually inside of the front main seal. When I removed the front main seal a few years ago, I recall that the seal had separated. The part in question had fallen on to my work table and I kept it, thinking it was important. This part is inside every new front main seal. I racked my brain over this part for the past 3 months. I suppose the moral of the story is to bag, label and take pics of all parts before and after removing them. 👍 |
Damn never thought of that, but now you mention it its obvious :D

That isn't an individual seal. It's a spring that fits inside of a lip seal. Only 2 lip seals from memory are the input shaft seal and the output shaft seal. Based on it's size it'll be the output shaft seal that is missing the spring.
Buy a new seal and the spring is already attached. |
