New C43 or used 2015 C63S

I'm looking at a new C43 and a used 2015 C63S with about 5k miles. I live in Maryland and we get a few good snow days a year. Both cars are appointed nicely. This will be my daily driver and I drive about 60 miles each way to work. Need something that can really handle the miles, comfortable with a decent amount of power on tap. I'm coming from a 2016 Audi RS7.

Which woukd you choose?

Thanks,
Tom

i also had an RS7.

The C43 will feel ridiculously slow compared to the Audi.

The C63S will still feel slightly slower but much more engaging to drive than the Audi.

As as long as you can put winter tires or really good all-season tires on the C63S, I think it's a no brainier.

C63S all day.

.
C43 will be a better DD when the weather doesn't cooperate, but is about a second slower than your old RS7. Interiors are a wash.

Ive been trained not to buy German cars used (right or wrong), but if you're fine with that, it's pretty much a matter of deciding between extra stability or extra power.

I'm coming from a RS7 too and I just ordered the coupe. I would get the c63, same as the 43 just more power which is important to guys like us or else you wouldn't have had a RS7 in the first place.

If you want to buy AMG there is only C63 or C63S, if you want to buy AMG badge and stickers buy C43

Well kind of an AMG--no one man one engine--and of course you know .8 is a lot.

While I tend to somewhat agree, this kind of narcissistic stance is toxic. While the 43 is not a whole hearted AMG, it is still built in Affalterbach (the coupe anyway), and tuned by AMG. It's more than just a badge and stickers.

I am not you... but if I were you, C63S is the choice.

I live in Arlington, and sure I have a Range Rover I can use if things get too sticky, but I had a tuned BMW 335 coupe putting out more torque and HP than the C43. I put blizzarks on in winter and it went through the nastiest we got thrown at us no problem. I did have a limited slip differential in it so not the stock open diff. But following my reasoning, I switched to all seasons and put on Conti ExtremeContact DWS on it for the last two years because I sold off the winter wheel / tire set. How did it do? Honestly it did bertter than I thought possible. Absolutely fine even in driving rain sleet and snow. Even managed to go home on the falsh ice mess we go last winter and was driving past SUVs gone sideways and into the ditch in untereated Rossyln to Ballston area.

AWD would be icing on cake, but throw some contis or best pilleri all seasons you will be fine. I am a BMW and at least a BMW in the garage for last 20yrs. Heck was going to get M3 or M4 to replace my 335. By chance I decided to check out the C450 because it is AWD and thought it was better replacement for the 335. To my surprise it felt better than the 340 or 440i. At Least my butt dyno liked it better. I was almost set on it as I had been ade a really nice offer. Then I read a C43 was coming thought maybe I'd wait to see. Cancelled my interest. One lasy afternoon I go by and drive a C63S and rest is history. That .8 is only the 0-60 time, but the gap will get bigger and bigger as speeds climb! And you had a monster before you will eventually regret having gone with logic over emotion. People who buy RS7, AMG, M cars we didn't use logic. It was all emition. Follow your heart and ignore what logic tells you because you will have regrets later. That little pesky winter issue is all tire choice, not number of wheels driven. This area isn't half bad or even in the snowbelt. If you were in upstate NY Minneapolis or Canada maybe.

So basically you don't have to compromise and r give up power.

Don't get so defensive
Here is a question for you--why does the C43 not get the AMG driving school certificate?
Just because it is not a real AMG does not mean it is not a great car.

No man it's all good
It's 2017 model , I'm sure it will get the amg driving certificate as long as MB
considered it as amg . I'm not saying it's like your C63s , definetly the c63S is more fun , but the c43 is amg too and perfect for daily driving in cold areas with snowy winter like Canada in my case

in real tests its even less more like .6 because AWD is underrated.

i've looked at some 2015 C63s as well, and very well equipped with under 10k miles they are around 70k these days.

so its barely a premium over an equivalently equipped new c43 (maybe say $8k). i ended up getting the C43 anyway, C63 has much more power than i can use, and costs more to maintain and half the warranty is gone. i think they are both good choices, though but the whole "not a real amg, vs a real amg" thing needs to end. they are both really great cars, and you always get more for your $ with used

It's a tough choice but by downsizing in a couple areas like cars we will be able to get a second place at the beach. I absolutely love cars but it's the smarter long term decision.

The 43 is as fast as a car needs to be around town.

What you do in your spare time should determine whether or not you should go for the higher tier.

It's always nice having the top dog of a car, nothing to wish you would have gotten - as you're getting everything it has to offer.

I've settled on a C63s (granted, new), but looked at CLA45, GLA45, C450, etc.

I was at the dealership looking at the CLA45 and felt like the back seat was a little small - thus was looking at the GLA45. The salesperson then took me over to a C450. I drove it, but I felt it was lacking. It didn't put that "**** eating grin" on my face and felt a little flat for what I was looking for.

Then I drove the C63s (at another dealer). Whole different car. Exhaust is orgasmic and it punches you in the chest. So if you're looking for something that will put you back, then the C63. If you need something to get around town and give you a little when needed, then the C43 is for you.

Get the C63S. If you know how to drive properly, and get proper winter tires then you'll be more than fine in the snow.

Who defined "AMG" has to be "one man one engine"?

Even it was defined that way. It's changed by Mercedes Benz. C43 is branded as an AMG - believe it or not. no question no doubt.

That's what makes AMG special. I'm getting a c43 too, but I won't argue that the brand has been diluted. The AMG moniker has been used to advertise to the masses. What happened to the AMG heritage
