New purchase order - production status?
I just placed an order for a C43 about a week ago - scheduled around December 10th for built.
Is there any way to check out production status?

What do you mean? You need the VIN of the vehicle to check the status. You won't receive the VIN until the car goes into or finishes production (based on varying experiences of members here).

Once you have your VIN, go to this site:
https://www.2wglobal.com/webapps?fra...uickSearchPage
That will tell you the current status of your car (location), and will also tell you the name of the carrier ship, once it has been booked. Once you have the name of your ship, you go to this site:
www.marinetraffic.com.
Use the search function on the left side to search the name of your vessel, and you'll be able to track it until it reaches your port.

Your dealer can provide that information via the commission number.
It tells them if the car is on schedule to be built. Once built the VIN is generated then you can you other methods yourself.

Im one month in from when I ordered. Dealer said about three months total for delivery about 30 days to get the build date. Before I call and check, what document should I be asking for? The commission number gives the build specs and production date? Is that it? Or should Ii be asking for anything else? Thanks

Not to hijack the thread, but this is news to me, I had to google it to see in fact the C-Class is assembled in the US. Does anyone know if you were to place an order for a C43 sedan, could you take delivery in Germany through European delivery?

FYI, that tracking site only works if the car is being shipped on that shipping line. There are several others that MB uses out of Germany that don't show up with this search (at least that has been my experience). Once you have the ship then marinetraffic works great and also has a nice app for ipad. My sales rep gave me the vin once my car was built (C63 cab), it was at port for a few days then he had the ship info a few days after it left Bremerhaven. It is headed to Halifax Nova Scotia and then working its way to the west coast at Long Beach. Takes about a month once the car leaves Germany.

I built my last Benz (C300) and transparency is not their thing. Almost zero info and the thing just showed up one day, which I figured was normal. Last year I built a BMW, total opposite. I tracked the car through each production phase on their website, and there were a dozen different phases. No VIN needed...they assigned it a production number the moment the factory accepted the order. They also told me the name of the ROLO ship it was put on. Then I used that 3rd party service to watch the ship in real time make its various European ports, cross the pond, and dock in Brunswick GA. Then I knew when it was put on a truck and the next day I took delivery. Still a drag waiting but all the info made it tolerable.
BMW as a brand is pretty cool. Mercedes dealer has better snacks in the lounge though. Would it kill ya to put out fresh donuts once in awhile? The car itself ain’t bad either. I liked the C but I love the 4 Series.
