Seriously??
There are quite a few reviews saying the c43 transmission is a level above the Audi S4.

So, yes, relatively speaking, the transmission is good in the c43.

OK, however, relatively speaking is quite a long way from being the same as an amazing gearbox.

Just saying...

Well, you certainly can't compare it to the PDK, one of the best auto transmissions in the world. lol

We certainly agree on that!

However I was not making any comparisons, just stating my opinion- the C43's 9 spd is anything but amazing!

BMW 435i 2015, on order 2018 c43 or 63
Drove a 43 coupe this weekend as test....the 9 g tronic is superb. Its ability to downshift in prep for curves and braking then always be in max torque curve had me grinning.
Acceleration was exhilarating and smooth. Great engine and tranny.
Wonder how it will respond after tune?

I've logged 4500 kms since Feb in my C43 and of all the things I truly love about the C43, this 9spd transmission is definitely not one.

Fill your boots with amazing!

It's funny you say this about Mercedes new 9 sp transmission. I've seen/read multiple reviews on the C43, and a few have reported that for manual shifting using the paddle shifters, 9 spds are too many to shift through.

I my case it has absolutely nothing to do with the number of gears. It's how the transmission handles Sport+ gear changes under various conditions.

I'm sure it could be improved without much effort.

2017 C43
Please drive the 340i with the Rear Wheel Drive configuration before deciding on which car to buy. If AWD is not important to you, drive the RWD as it comes with the performance suspension that you cannot get with the XDRIVE system. I used to have a 435i RWD with all the mperformance packages and I find that it handled better than my C43.

Damon, was going to mention to you that - ironically - Dinan has a nice, very economical ECU upgrade for our 450/43s...........but I'm guessing you knew? I watched the tread develop, went back last week, and it looks like we can get an additional 40/40 for only $300.00. I mean just 3 Bills!? Needless to say it's my list to get done ASAP.

What I really wanted to note is the criticisms of your take on the amazing C43 gearbox, which I can't claim being in a 450. But coming from a BMW 3-series that's, from all my research, NOT known for having a s---tty tranny (actually a pretty good one), I find it slightly hilarious to read the comments.

Let's see. You daily-drove the 3, found the 43 to be quite good in (I'm pretty sure) a torque converter-torque convert gearbox comparison, and never said anything about it being equal to any DCT or God-forbid a Porsche PDK (which would've certainly brought out the trolls). So what's the ----ing problem!? Geez!

Anyway, thanks for heads up. Hell, I might go get a damn 43 for that and some upgrading to a sport exhaust.

My S4 is back on the chopping block but now I'm looking at a C43.
Late to the party but I have to concur with this. I have a 2k15 Msport Xdrive 335i 6speed and in comfort mode especially, the handling and ride are disappointing. A lot better in Sport mode but not as good as I expected it to be. Paid 32k for it. 4 year 50 k mile warranty 39 k miles 12/04/17. Wish I at least drove a C450 first but the Estroil blue and 6 speed is what got me. My friends 2k14 Audi S4 handles better.more power and a better AWD system but from having an old Audi B5S4 it put a sour taste in my mouth and I decided to stay away. Now I wish I considered one.

Would lose too much money trading this car in so I will make due with Dinan suspension mods.
