Boxster S to AMG
Hi Folks,
I have a 2012 Boxtser S that i am considering to trade for a 2018 c43 amg cab with performance exhaust etc . I will like awd for northeast cold weather /fall and some extra rear space and comfort .
Any one who has a c450/c43 can give their feedback on their likes/dislikes with the cab?
Also,
A) Is Bengal red design nappa available as an interior choice in USA ? it is not available on configurator
B) is heated steering wheel an option or std / NA?

I love my cab. I can't help but recommend it. I was choosing between a Boxster S and the C43 Cab in 2017, earlier this year - and the C43 felt like a much better car.

I have the cranberry red interior. This includes red leather on the seating areas as well as the door panels coupled with black trim most everywhere else.

You are definitely going to get a more well rounded car switching from the Porsche. You are gaining a back seat, swapping the frunk for a trunk, and getting all season ability out if the AWD. You are however losing one if the most well balanced care available from Porsche. If you aren't spending too many track days flogging your car you wouldn't have missed that anyway. Happy shopping.

I had asked my dealer about why a heated steering wheel isn't an option and I got some BS about it being a sport wheel. To which I replied BMW has it available in their sport wheels, its available on Porsches...and he had no reply.
I've had a Boxster S (actually it was a 2008 an RS60) which we liked a lot and we currently have a 2014 Cayman S in addition to a C43 sedan. For everyday practicality the 4matic makes the C43 a better choice if you are driving the car year round in the Northeast. We never drive our sports cars in the winter. I really like the C43 a lot (ours is a sedan, the wife didn't want a soft top for use in the winter), and its a lot of fun to drive...but I'm not sure I'd want to give up owning a Porsche. Its lighter, more nimble, and a very different driving experience. Wishing you luck with whatever you decide.

Thx Dino for the feedback. I had a 09 boxster s, moved to cayman, missed the open top so went back to a 2012 boxster S. the soft top in winter works very well. no issues at all. the sot top can hold a lot of snow weight . I have seen dealer cars with snow on them for days and they said it was totally fine
I do agree that a pure sports cars like boxster/cayman/911 will always be more nimble, more sportier and lighter but sometimes after a hard day they don't feel comfy to get back home or to drive for a longer distance

Trust me and get the Audi S5. Better looking Exterior and interior won't rattle after you drive it off the lot like Mercedes does. Far superior AWD system (I mean Quattro lol). However, if you are keeping it longer than 5 years be prepared for Audi's mechanical maintenance. I personally like the BMW 440i and never been fan of the Audi but god damn the new S5 is simply a whole new level.

I would give the CEO of MercedesBenz a friggin hand job for a heated steering wheel!
It's something you don't understand unless you live in a place with true winters and have experienced a heated wheel. It should be a standard option if the car has heated seats. Hell, I'd give up my heated seats in an instant for a heated wheel

That being said, I'd nix the sport steering wheel for one of their regular heated steering wheels if they would have let me. Still, it makes no sense to me that BMW and Porsche can give customers a heated sport steering wheel, but MB can't do the same. Its ridiculous!

- Be sure to keep your hands at 9 and 3
- MB stands for Mind the *****
- Dr. Z's ***** is available in standard perforated leather or AMG Dinamica spec

On a more serious note, we need black shiny plastic cooling during the summer months. What kind of sadistic freak designed a car with every surface you will have to touch on a hot day out of a material that gets super hot. . .
Oh. That's right.

Well, it wasn't a deal breaker since we ordered the car knowing it wouldn't have it. However, my wife would have liked to have it, and if BMW, Audi and others can put it in their steering wheels, its ridiculous that MB can't do the same.

I'm surprised you New Englanders aren't complaining about the near useless remote start the C Class offers.
Even if you're lucky enough to get mbrace to work for you, the remote start in the Mercedes C Class starts the engine only...big whoop.
I'd like it to also turn on my heated seat and activate the rear window defroster & outside mirror warmers...like my Jeep Grand Cherokee did, and my wife's current Jaguar XE does.
And yes I would like to have a heated steering wheel too...like my Jeep Grand Cherokee did, and my wife's current Jaguar XE has, and her past two 3 Series BMWs had.
AND my Jeep Grand Cherokee and my wife's past BMW had heated rear seats as well.

This morning it was a balmy 38* here in Queens. I tried the remote start 4 times to no avail. I got a different error code every time too. Once I got into my cold Mercedes, I had to use gloves like some cold poor person, to keep my palms from freezing on the cold wheel.
Sadist company, I'm telling you.

2012 S63, 2015 GL63, 2018 C43.
Prior cars...all with sport steering wheels...none with heated.
Pretty sad a car that was 150k+ new doesn't have a heated steering wheel in 2012 or 2015...you'd think it would have been standard in a 2018 Mercedes by now.

2018 amg c43 cabriolet
just bought a c43 cab. very happy so far. Selinite grey with red top.
I drove a 718 boxster, and a 991.2, and other usual suspects, and settled on the c43 because of looks, performance, comfort, and technology i.e g9 tranny 4 matic, and sound of the 3 litre ( I have the upgraded exhaust, so good). You are choosing between two completely different cars, one sports car, the other I call it a Sports GT car. A matter of taste.

Congrats Oakmossy on your c43 cab, definetly will get the perf. exhaust
I am not able to get a clear answer from dealers on what kinda leather is available on C43 cab. Designo Bengal red is available in the online build only on c300 4matic and not on amg c43/c63 cab cars. The printed brochure says it is available . Also, between the std seats and the performance seats , which do go lower?
Thx.

2018 amg c43 cabriolet
I have the black leather option with heated/vented seats. A little hard but generally comfy and very supportive.
Definately consider the carbon fibre console really sets off the interior. I have the performance studio trim also.

I mean to each his own, but one is a 2 seat sports car and the other is a 4 seat sports sedan. I live the Boxster S, but I want 4 seats and AWD. From my perspective they are not really comparable cars although I recognize that for others they might represent a real choice.
