QUESTION: Removal of Trunk Spoiler
Quick question for everyone, is it difficult to remove the trunk spoiler from my C43? I purchased an Edition 1 spoiler from RW Carbon and am having it painted to match my vehicle. I think I've read that these are DIY for install, but I don't really know how to do it, and don't know exactly what I need to (a) get the old one off, (b) clean up the remaining residue, and (c) install the new spoiler.
Speaking to the shop tech, he quoted about 3-4 hours of work...to which I said *****! Those hours included removing all the residue and polishing the area, etc...and then re-installing. It seemed really excessive (particularly for a shop that probably does this a lot) so I'm testing to see if that estimate was BS, or about right...and I should just have the shop do it...or (as I am inclined) do it by my self.
Feedback please!

The spoiler is attached with double sided sticky tape. I removed mine off my 63 with dental floss (wont damage the paint). Just get a piece of dental floss fold it 2-3 times so it does break and slide it under the spoiler. It will come off no problem. You'll have to clean off whatever is left behind. you can use a little Goo-Gone so its not sticky. Wipe down with a little rubbing alcohol so the surface is clean and dirt free. Get some double sided sticky tape and cover the bottom of the spoiler. measure out where you want the spoiler placed. Don't removed backing on the tape until you are sure you have perfect placement of the spoiler. its pretty simple. Save the money, do it yourself.

Awesome! Thanks for the tips and direction...is about what i was thinking.
quick follow up question: What type of double-sided tape do I use? Is there a particular type (thickness, brand, etc.) used/recommended for autos?

3M tape is pretty standard. I used 3M when I installed my Mode Carbon front lip. 0 movement! that thing isn't going anywhere. Apply tape generously. You can also use a dry erase marker to make some dots on your trunk before final placement. Wipes off with paper towel

Took me 10 minutes to remove the stock spoilner.
Used a 3m product to remove the residue, maybe 2 minutes. Then with the help of 3m automotive tape I was able to adhere the new carbon spoiler. Total job time was 30-45 mins?

Question about the removal
Hi, I was curious if the removal of the spoiler leaves any damage to the clear coat or paint. I would like to just remove mine and leave it off. Thanks in advance for anyone’s reply.

You should try using a hot steamer to remove it. If you do not have one go to a window tint shop. And ask them to do it. They use this device to remove window tint. The hot steam basically melts the 3m tape away leaving no residue. Or you can go online to the 3m website and order the solution they have to remove the sticky residue. The steamer works like magic though!
