I feel you brother but mine is on the boat and it's too late to head back. You won't be missing out on too much if you don't intend on swapping front and backs though.
If I got a 2019 C43, I don't think I'd alter the design, it matches the car for what it is.
I dislike the current diamond grille and diffuser/tips so I would most likely get the latter or both swapped. You can imagine the cost...
However, you'll likely get a better deal since the new model is revealed and the old tail lights look better.
The bit of power boost comes from engine tune so that's not a problem.
If you strongly require the tech (ADAS & digital display) I would go for 2019.

I would guess October to be a safe bet for acquiring a 2019. But, when the c43 was coming to replace the c450 it was delayed quite a bit and the same COULD happen to the facelift.
I'd probably wait if I could, you'll regret not having the latest and greatest, especially for the time difference.

I'd definitely wait for the 2019 if you're getting a sedan, the rear looks so much better (except maybe the taillights). Plus that new screen/steering wheel/power bump

I am leaning towards an E400 now as I think that will suit me a lot better.

Honestly, It's not big of a difference Only thing is a small power bump, and rear diffuser/tips that i prefer, the front is ugly.
and if you get a piggyback tune you would be pushing a whole lot more.
and i wouldn't get the e400, its not AMG and its much slower/less fun to drive.

But that no B pillar... I understand that it is slower, but it still has sufficient power. Not to mention a way nicer interior, it just matches my driving style more.
The thing is the E class is known for its luxury, reliability, and safety.
Whereas the C-class (don't hit me) is... Not.
It depreciates hard, "AMG" makes insurance and repairs high, yada yada... The way I have my C43 optioned, basically fully optioned - driver assistance package, is just $5k CAD less than the fully loaded E400 and $10k CAD less than a low-med optioned C63 (sans S).
As a youngster and first car buyer, I think I could have went on with this better but it was a good learning experience and introduction to the MB family.

Mercedes is changing to fast. The E43 AMG has lots of power and now the new C43 is the same but the E53 will be more than the E43. It's all over the place now for some strange reason Mercedes is heading into the directly Crysler had.... To many models competing against themselves and not other brands.

If I were you I'd get the 2018 model, here are my reasons:
1,The lunching date is still unknown, could be Sep, could be Oct, could be Nov, if you get it now, you can enjoy it for half year instead of pure endless waiting.
2, The first group is going to be expensive, and dealers won't care for bargaining, since lots of people just want the new facelift, so it makes it very hard to get a decent deal.
3, I admit the new screen and digital gauge look fantastic, but the exterior doesn't really change, the HP increased to 390, but 0-60 stays the same as 4.6,
4, I always don't recommend people getting the new generation, (after a complete redesign especially), full of potential problems, if you want to see some reviews and experiences, then probably you need to wait until the end of year or even next year, but by that time maybe there are some news about 2020's C43
So you basically need to balance between a half year waiting and getting a new car, if I were you I'd enjoy it now, especially the 2019's model doesn't offer something completely new.

If you've got a comfy ride in the meantime, and you won't get hit with any sort of penalties, I'd cancel and wait. 100%, absolutely. Facelift versions of a generations are the 'creme de la creme.' Especially when they put in trickled down tech like the digital display.

I'm usually "all over" the refreshes as they generally offer significant improvements. But in this case I would stick with the 2018, especially if you got a good deal.
