Keeping the Racechip over the JB1 (JB1 up for sale).

So this is nothing ground breaking but just my take on the Racechip GTS Black vs. JB1 w/Bluetooth. Without dyno tuning, both tunes feel exactly the same Map1 (JB1) and Race (GTS Black). With a few sloppy 0-60 runs (without torque braking) i managed similar runs of 4.2-4.5s on the JB1 and 4.2-4.6s on the GTS Black on the Dragy (im very bad at 0-60 runs).

You really can't go wrong with either:

JB1 w/bluetooth (~$620)
Pros
-Remote app control
-best bang for the buck
-data logging capability
-real time gauge readings
-change maps on the fly
-custom maps (map 6)
Cons
-Unfinished look
-poor case quality
-not water resistant

Racechip GTS Black (~$850):
Pros
-Remote app control
-Great looking and superb quality
-digital display on the main unit to verify status
-great performance for the money
-better harness
-weather resistant case
-change maps on the fly
-warm up timer (adjustable)
Cons
- no data logging
- no custom maps
- no real time gauges readings

I decided to keep the GTS black in the car just because its i prefer the better quality build/finish.

My JB1 w/bluetooth is up for sale. PM me if your interested.

I went to great lengths to find a VGA adapter cap to cover the JB1's data port. After you put it under the cover, I really dont see HOW water could get in there to be honest. Unless the user was super super careless.

Thanks for posting. Seems to summarize everything I've read/experienced regarding these 2 units.

BTW, if you locate the control unit in the battery compartment, there's little chance that it'll ever get wet. But I do agree that it's hard to beat the high-quality construction of the RaceChip products.

The Racechip manual doesn’t mention water, just heat. Should i be concerned?

I’d swear my Racechip is getting better. I’ve got a couple hundred miles now, and the sucker really pulls. The engine seems effortless, now.

JB1 Sold thanks for all the PMs.

Racechip will be up for sale soon also.

Google blown engine. Some guy in Texas. Had nothing to do with the tune.

The real strength of the Stage1 is the custom tuning ability, and future upgrade path to a JB4 with CANbus data and more control.

I wonder if you have an older model? The latest model has a nice water proof enclosure.

Racechip claims custom tuning.

I'm too late to the party, I would've picked up the bluetooth of you.. I believe that the newer versions of jb1 are water tight, that's why they are $479 now vs. $379 for the old units. While I have the old unit (bought it used and he had it for over a year before me), I haven't had any problems with it. As far as the custom tuning ability, jb1 has map6 which you can custom tune boost setting in 500rpm increments, starting @ 1,500rpm to 7,000rpm
