Debadge

As an owner of a C43 wanted to talk about the sometimes sensitive topic of debadging in this forum. What are posters thoughts on it? Have you done it on your AMG C43?

I actually love the look of the debadged Merc, the problem that I have is the perception that most think if you have debadged your car youre driving around a C200.

I love the look of the debadged car, it gives the car a leaner, classier and more attractive look, but its inevitable that most would think you have lower model car.

I saw once a car that kept the "c" but removed the 200, which was a bit sad to be honest.

I keep mine on, but if you want to debadge, go for it. My feeling is that most people on the road don't know or care about the difference between car models. And those that do, know the visual queues that separate one model from another. Other than that, who gives a fack what others thing about your ride. Does it make you smile when you look at it? If so, do what you want.

I love your passion and energy you have the C43.

You have one of those intangible variables that you cant measure as to the value of the C43 to you. I say this as I am the same, I know sweet farrk all about cars, but getting this car has taught me so much. I never had that phase till now when your a 16 year old kid and all you want to do is talk about your car the mods you want to do and all the rest that goes with it.

Never been a ricer, but thankfully you cannot get crappy parts easily for a MB, lol.

Keep it up.

Even before it has arrived to me, I knew i will debadge it. And i don't regret anything.

If someone thinks that it is C200 - it will be my pleasure to invite him to a traffic light and show him a bit of Nm sitting inside..

The beauty of the C class coupe is that debadged it does look like a S class.

We have the same body as a C300 sport trim, if you debadge, the only thing that sets your car apart is the grill and exhaust. Most people will think you have a normal C class.

Some people don't need status approval from strangers.

2017 Mercedes-AMG C43 coupe
I just bought my new-to-me 2017 AMG C43 Coupe with 8,800 miles on it last week (8-15-2018). I love everything about it. One thing that I did a few days ago was remove the C43 badge at the rear. I was planning on removing the AMG as well, but decided to leave it on for now. I can always remove it later. My 12 year old son thinks just the AMG looks cool, but I will likely remove it at a later date.

My reason for debadging are the following:
1) It's a very "German" thing to do. In Germany it seems like every car is debadged.
2) People who know cars will know what it is. I like that.
3) If people don't know cars, I'd rather have people at work think that it's only a C300 (I'd rather my coworkers not think I'm being paid too much);
4) But the most important reason for me - I think It looks so much cleaner on the coupe at least without the badges.

I'm located in Wisconsin, and happy to be part of this Mercedes-AMG C43 group.

Details on my car since I'm new here:
2017 Selenite Gray AMG C43 coupe, carbon fiber interior, Premium 3 package, carbon exterior package (spoiler, mirrors), night package, air balance package, vented seats, black w/red stitching and seatbelt interior

In the end, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. If they don't know cars and think I have a C300, so be it. If they only kinda know cars and think its a C63 AMG or an S-Class coupe, so be it, and if they really have a sharp eye and know its a C43, then that is a cool person in my book.

2018 C43 AMG
Yup, I'm a car enthusiast, and love to talk cars. Every car i get, I like to learn everything about it.

My car is black and I'm doing a complete carbon fiber Brabus style black out and the only thing that will be shining will be the AMG//C43 logo on the back

I don't need status approval from strangers, but i will agree with HTX, that the C43 gets mistaken for a regular C class more than you think. A lot of people also know what AMG is, and that badge just makes it more eye candy.

Whenever I see a debadged car I wonder why.. Unless the badges are butt ugly I'd keep them.. Also if it's a lease you'll have to put them back on, and if you own it and decide to sell you'll need to put them back on, folks buying used may not like your idea of cool. Just my opinion

As far as C class goes, I would bet that most that debadge their car statistically would be C250 owners.

With that said, i do like the clean look, I wish actually MB removed the decision for me and didnt badge the cars.

I think you guys should go all the way with the debadging. To be blunt, you all look really tryhard with just the AMG badge.

I recently got an AMG plate frame for my back plate but now that it says AMG twice, I already feel silly.

TBD
If I were to debadge anything, it would be the AMG first. But the whole things seems like too much effort.

One really easy way to debadge is to remove the tacky dealer plate frame. I can't understand why people drive their cars around as walking billboards for a ****ty dealer, when all it takes it 2 minutes and a screwdriver to eliminate the problem.

2017 C43 Sedan
I personally live in Miami, where status is everything.. not that I care.. but i don't want someone telling me "nice c300" knowing damn well how much i paid for this car. On top of that, there are probably 2 c300 sport sedans for every 5 cars where I live, debadging it would really make the C43 look like its lesser counter part... until they hear it. I literally got asked "how did you make your benz sound like that, I want my e300 to sound like that" from a random chick who i feel would classify under the typical population of "non car people".

I want to stand out, not blend in..

Also, I debadged my imports when I was in the stance scene, (G35, G37, 370Z), because it was a clean look.. for those cars.. hell I did it on my C250.. but because it was a C250 lol.

I wouldn't do it, but thats just me

Agree. If I was to remove the C43, I would remove the AMG as well. Its either all or nothing.

I agree. I was going to get the number plate with AMG on it as well. Im glad I didnt go down that path.

I agree with you.

There isnt much of a visual difference between a C43 and C300. If there was I would have debadged my C43 straight away. In fact if you slap on dual fake exhaust tips on the c300 you cant tell the difference, standing side by side.

I admit I do like knowing I have a C43 compared to C300 etc, much like Im sure a C63 owner feels the same towards a C43. However, the C63 is very obviously different to the C43.

Debadging is a lot simple than you may think.

Fortunately my dealer plate frame is actually quite nice, but in general I agree. It could be worse. Some dealers slap stickers on the back of the car window.

Yeah, I would advise you not to get one. Save yourself $50. Just get a nice carbon fiber one or tinted covers, only plates is not a bad choice either.

E63 AMG S owner here. My vehicle is debadged, but I see it both ways. It's nice seeing the badging, but for me, I don't need to put it out there what I drive to validate my purchase and I like the "sleeper" idea behind the debadge. I also don't dislike the idea of keeping the car "as is" off the floor. Personal preference.

Trust me I hate the dealer plate. But I'm not gonna run around with no plate. Thats an easy way to get pulled over and I hate talking to LEO especially since I'm brown with tatts LOL My personal plates will go on next week

Nope, I like it like that. Totally debadged looks cheap to me. Like the car is too plain or unfinished
