ASR Flap Module
Does anyone have English instructions on how to install the exhaust flap module from ASR? Mine finally arrived in the mail today but after scouring the website, everything is in German and there doesn’t seem to be any clear cut instructions on how to properly install it.

Never mind, I figured it out. Here’s the installation guide for anyone looking to get one. I just used google translate to put it in English (worked surprisingly well). https://asr-component.de/index.php?c...d_attachment=6 |
There is also a video on u tube
I used that one |
Also, for anyone on the fence about getting one, I think it is worth the price. The idle is noticeably louder and the exhaust is so much more prominent at low RPMs. For a few hundred dollars, it was definitely a solid upgrade.

How did you guys even order it? When I got to enter the address it does not have a United States option.

You have to email them. There is a guy called Daniel.

You're going to love it! Makes the car sound so much better, imo.

Dumb question does this do anything if I don't have the pe. Thanks

I ordered mine on Friday. How long did it take you guys to receive yours? Did they send a tracking number? |

That is what I ended up doing. It is hard to believe that there is not a vendor in US that sells them.
Did you install yourself? its a simple plug and play? Correct ? Did you do a resonator delete as well? |

Could you provide for us a video?
Did you install yourself? its a simple plug and play? Correct ? Did you do a resonator delete as well? It literally takes 3 seconds to install yourself. The sound is sooo much better at lower RPM’s. You really notice when you start the car and every time you take off from a stop light. At higher rpm it is the same as stock. That’s all I have done to it so far. I have plans to take it even further but I’m not sure how much further yet. |
I’ll make a video this weekend. I can do the stock start up and driving and with the ASR activated start and driving. |

Tag me in if you can. That would be great.
The camera was a little closer to the exhaust in the second video. Still, you'll get the idea. The first clip is a cold start with the ASR module activated, the second clip is stock cold start, the third clip is running stock then activating the ASR module. |

I noticed in the instructions they have a
CAN-BUS Connection CAN BUS is another word for integrating the module within the stock electronics. another words repurposing the garage opener to operate the module. |
Any more group buys going on? I want to pick one of these up soon. Also, when emailing Daniel, what options do we tell him? I believe there are 3 choices: startup mode, # and type of remote, and trunk vs engine install.
As for the module, we would still need to press the PE button for the ecu to make pops/bangs correct? So turn on valves for loud and press button for pops? |

I has Daniel workout which one I needed, if I remember it was the cheapest option one. The car has more pops and rumbles even if you don't hit the button because the valves are open so you are getting more sound through. the exhaust button does nothing if you have the asr programmed to open the valves. put car in sport plus and listen to the symphony of the engine. |

At this time there is no GB going on but I imagine you can contact him and see if he would do another one

I believe, this will toggle a switch in the ECU to normalize the ignition timing which will cause it to pop less. Because the way the PE [button] works is by retarding the ignition timing so that the explosion happens later in the combustion cycle. The car will still sound deeper and louder because the exhaust valves in the mufflers are kept fully open by the ASR Module, however the H-valve is no longer opened as wide and the ECU no longer spits flames into the exhaust. Note this is merely an opinion and may not be factual which is why I asked my question. But give this a try and see if you still get as great of a sound with the flaps open and button off. |
As discussed many times on here before, the sound of a car with the performance exhaust fitted is entirely different with asr open/stock 'closed' and asr open/stock 'open'.
You will not get the crackles and burbles with just the asr module set to open if your stock exhaust button is off. |
Yes I just want to confirm that. Thanks. A piggyback without a remote and without hardwiring but directly linked to the console buttons would be best, but you can't have the best of both worlds...
