2018 C43 AMG
New C43, no power
I got my C43 coupe 2 months ago, switching from a BMW 435. While there are many differences between the two cars, as I was getting used with the C43, it seemed to lack some "oomph", compared with the 435. At some point I realized that when I was going WOT on the hwy entry lane, while the car was accelerating nicely up to 90-100 kph, it just staying in the 4th or 5th, 5-6K rpm, and not much happened. Where on the beemer I would have had to release the throttle to stay safe from the law, the C43 had no drama, it was slowly accelerating towards 140-150 in he same gear, at 5K . Basically the car moves spirited at low speed in sport+, but nothing much happens in the mid or higher range. As I was getting less and less happy with the car, I noticed that on the AMG engine status gauge, I wasn't getting beyond 200HP whatever I tried. Later I noticed that the AMG digital boost gauge doesn't move , it's "stuck" to the left, should it show anything ? I think it should indicate some boost once I'm past 3K rpm for example, shouldn't it ?
I contacted MB dealership to schedule an appointment, but it seems that it will take some time before I can get an appointment, and on the preliminary phone discussions, their opinion is that if there is any power loss , I should have some engine light come on (the beemer did that nicely )
Has anyone experienced anything similar, should the boost gauge indicate anything, do you see anything beyond 200HP on the AMG engine stats gauge, and if you do, what RPM ?
Thanks !

Several people experienced this, Could be a boost leak, or in a soft limp mode. But not a big issue. C43 is superior to that 435i, when that problem gets fixed you will see.

I cant wait, I want to at least like the car, as at this point , I'm willing to ignore the sub average sound system, and other small things, but wanted to love to drive this car...

There is a break in period of 1500kms?
I have only driven my car in COMFORT. To be honest, I havent experienced how powerful this car is, as i intend to keep this car for a while and properly breaking it in is important for the life of the car.

My intercooler to mainfold connection was not sealed from the factory so I only made half of the PSI I should have. NO check engine light ever. Even when my hose fell off. Also have someone give the car small revs and listen for whistle sounds if you don’t see any issues with the connections.

Two possiblities. Either you have a boost leak, which can be confirmed by looking at the boost bar in the odometer panel. Or you have busted exhaust valves causing the car to lock itself in a solf limp mode. Both easily remedied by dealership. Neither problems gives any CEL. It throws a soft code which only XENTRY can scan at the dealership.
Once fixed, you should get a full 362hp readout in the AMG drivers info.
Have fun!

I seem to be having a similar problem although not as acute as yours.
I only get about 275 hp and 330 ft/lbs at best. My boost gauge does goto full but near 5800 rpm it drops to zero.
Initial quick test by the dealer they said they don't thing the gauges are accurate but I have the car going in about a month from now and will press them to dig futher.
Good luck, and keep us posted.

apparently this is an issue on the 2019 as well...
mine just did it and it's only at 3000 miles...
for those who have fixed the tube blowing off, did you figure out what causes it? also, did it happen again after you tightened it?
mine was fixed earlier today but blew off again... going to try it one more time before bringing it to the dealer.

This time it's holding some boost, but I hear a whistling noise. But I see it's disconnected again.

Seems like I am having the same issue with my 2019 C43, I haven't seen HP gauge exceed low 200 range. I have 2400 miles so far. Dealers says car is still adjusting to my driving style. Is there a period/mileage after which car will start to get to "full power"? I had a loaner C300 and that had more power acceleration than my C43. What is Soft limp mode?
Also, my car has rhythmic mild vibration in the steering at highway speeds, dealer said its a C43 characteristic, not something that they can fix! Not sure if all this is related.

NO WAY that's a C43 characteristic!

Put the car in sport+ mode and floor it, if it doesn’t hit full power, something is wrong... the power is a calculated number, so if it doesn’t show full power, it means something is not allowing the engine to produce full power.
Mine had a similar issue. If I was driving the car normally for a while and then floored it, it would go to 270 kW (362 hp) for the first two gears, but after that, it would only go to around 200 kW (270 hp). This went on for a while until I decided something must be wrong. Took it to the dealer and it turned out the intercooler had developed an internal leak and drained off all the coolant in the LT circuit, which meant that the intercooler was doing nothing causing the engine to reduce boost to avoid the charge air becoming too hot. Intercooler replaced and the power is 270 kW no matter how much I floor it.
So if you have similar symptoms, pull off the engine cover and check the coolant level of the reservoir just left of the middle of the engine - if empty, chances are you need a new intercooler.
