Command Screen Suddenly Went Black

I turned on my 2017 C43 this morning and the command screen, where I'd normally see the radio, media and nav, wouldn't come on. Oddly enough, if I pressed the menu screen, I would get the AC controls on the screen and if I backed up I would see the 360 degree camera view. I tried restarting the car as well as holding the DVD eject button to restart the system, but nothing comes up visibly on the display.

Has anyone else run into this and been able to resolve it?

Thanks!

Ironically, mine did the exact same thing this morning. Tried to restart my car and no luck.

I had mine serviced a month ago and there was a software update that fixed the same issue I was having. It hasn't happened since the update so you might check with your dealer.

Good call. I just booked an appointment at the dealer this afternoon. Hopefully, the update fixes the issue.

Sounds to me like the COMAND stuff is simply turned off. If you have the performance exhause, press the volume knob on the center console to turn it back on, if not then I think there's a separate off/on button for this.

You, sir, are my hero. And I am a fool. I had no idea the volume knob was a button too. I must have leaned on it or something!

If so, then that makes 2 of us. You see, my ability to help was due to experience. <;-O

Seems like my dealer's service folks always turn off the COMAND display when the car is in for service. The first time they did it I realized that it was still functional, because I'd changed the fan speed and saw the status display appear, but couldn't figure out how to get it turned back on. The little on/off icon, beside the volume knob on the console, is so small that I'd never noticed it. Live 'n learn!

Did you try pressing down on the volume scroll? That’s should power the screen back on.
