2019 C43 Or E450
Hi guys,
Please help me choose b/w the two. I can get C43 Sedan or C450. I test drove C43 2018 Coupe like 3 months ago and instantaneously fell in love with it. Started looking around and realized that 2019 is about to be released. Plus I couldn't find the exact options I was looking for. So now that I'm about to get my C43 2019, my dealer also mentioned about E450. Why am I considering E450??? Here are a few reasons and hoping you guys can help me think straight. 1 - I currently own 2011 BMW 535i. Its a twin turbo. What I love about this car is that its very luxurious. Has good speed but obviously no comparison with C43. But its fully loaded (even soft close door and all seats heated). Very spacious. Everything inside has great build quality. Nothing feels cheap at all. 2 - My wife has C300. When I sit in it, certain things look cheap. But that's not the major concern. What I didn't like about C300 is that it feel very small inside as compared to BMW 5 series. Also the seats on BMW are more comfortable. Specially the back seats on C300 felt very rigid. But, when I test drove C43, I just couldn't stop laughing. Plus that exhaust. Oh mannnnn. Just amazing. I was sooo caught up with flying that care that I didn't pay attention to how spacious/comfortable it is. Is it the same size as C300? Now E450. Based on what I have read so far, it has the same engine as C43 2018 in it but missing AMG tuning (not sure what that means). Does this mean it will run just like 2018 C43??? Its a bummer that it doesn't have the exhaust but I think when it comes to luxury/comfort, it will even surpass my current BMW. So here it is. You can see why I'm so confused. Obviously if I get E53, all problems are solved but that's too expensive for me. My C63 is around 62K and E53 will be more likely around 80Kish I think. So for C43 Sedan 1 - Is C43 the same size as C300 Sedan? 2 - Is material quality inside C43 same as C300? 3 - Are the seats in C43 same as C300 or better? for E43 1 - Does it drive the same as C43 since it has the same engine? i'm not worried about it 1-2 secs slowing in 0-60 much. But the thrill that C43 has. The pick... you know what I'm talking about. 2 - Has anyone driven both and can share their thoughts? Much appreciated. |
Thats just why I suggested it... the C43 is nice, but you have a new C300... the new 19 has some upgrades but will seem similar in normal driving/traffic conditions maybe? The E class is a longer wheelbase like your 5 series.. will be smoother and more lux interior.. bigger integrated screens.. I said 450 vs 300 since you wanted a bit more punch.. you can do a 53, but I cant do crazy deals on those

1. Yes.
2. Yes to interior. Regarding "AMG tuning", the C43 has a few different components namely in the suspension system. 3. Yes. 4. No, the E43 is on a different chassis, albeit very similar. 5. Haven't tried. |

Okay..
Let me help you. The New 2019 C43 AMG comes with the E43 Engine from the previous year. The 2018 C43 AMG comes with the same engine as the C450 AMG and now the new 2019 E450 comes with that same engine but no AMG exhaust. The tune they are mentioning is because the new 2019 C43 AMG comes with the AMG Tune and larger Turbos from it's big brother - E43 AMG. The E450 is larger than the C-Class = every C-Class model. Mercedes is basically stating that the C450 Engine which is the same as the previous years C43/C450 is now the base engine for the E-Class models for 2019. 2016-2018 C450/C43 = 362hp 2017-2018 E43 = 396hp 2019 C43 = 396hp 2019 E450 = 362hp 2019 E53 = 435hp Mercedes is just offering a more powerful E-Class over the current E400 as the 53 AMG enters the market. You will have a more luxurious interior in the E-Class |
Kinda weird when the dealer is on the forum lmao
2019's quality will be much better than the older C300's quality, in addition to extra features. They are both great cars, and both pretty close in speed, the E will be slightly less agile. Size is the same C43/300. And the V6/Inline6 comment is wrong, the rest of the drivetrain info you need to know is stated above. |

It is an Inline-6. |
I have real world experience with all of the above. 2017 C300, 2017 C43 and 2018 E400. I am 6’3, 220lbs, muscular build. I fit in all three cars very comfortably. The E400, (now the E450 for 2019),is larger, has more luxury, and more legroom in the rear. But once you drive the C43 your mind will be made up if you want the fun factor of PE on C43. You have an insane amount of fun with the C43 though. Pics are in my gallery |

Sorry you are incorrect. The E450 come with the same engine as the C43/C450 with the hp of the C43/C450 AMG BEFORE the bigger turbos are installed into the E43 and new C43. The inline 6 as of right now is installed on the E53 only but will be on other models later in the future.

The M276 engine is used in the following vehicles:
c400/c450/c43/E400/E450/E43 There are slightly different tuning maps for each model and the E43 and 2019 C43 have upgraded turbos but the engine is the same for these models. The C43 will have a much firmer(harsher) ride than your 5 series. It will be identical in size to your wife's C300. There are upgraded interior materials available for the C43 that are much better than base piano black and MB tex, but an equivalent E class will have more refined interior. The E class will be a more subdued ride. Power is close to the C43 and they share the same tranny but the E450 is heavier an the transmission programming is less aggressive. The E class will be a little slower than the C43 but it will feel much slower than C43. The E450 has no options for performance exhaust. There will be no crackles and pops, there will be very little drama with the E class. Depending on budget and timing, you may want to wait for the new E53. The E53 will be the same size as the E450 but have power output superior to the C43. The E53 will also have the performance exhaust option and the more aggressive transmission tuning. |

https://www.mbusa.com/en/vehicles/mo...specifications i stand corrected! |
I have a 2019 E450 convertible with a EC remap. It’s a total blast to drive. Got the same +99hp/+140ftlb gains as the other platforms with the same engine. Downpipes go on in the next two weeks. |
Earlier in the year I was deciding between a C43 and E300. Both were around the same price in Australia.
I am so glad that I went C43. I think after a year or two, I felt I would want and need more power. While the E300 is more luxurious, I felt the C43 was just as beautiful. |
https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...ec97e5504.jpeg Go for the C43. You won’t be disappointed believe me. |
Walked into dealership thinking I’d buy an E400 coupe. Decided to drive the C43 for the heck of it.... ended up with the 43. |
I had the same dilemma but ultimately decided on the E450. I just love the interior and it's plenty of power for me - at least for now.....

Well now we are also go going to be getting CLA45 2020 and that thing looks absolutely gorgeous. Love the front of car. I wasn't a fan of interior of 2019 and earlier with CLA but 2020 interior is AWESSSOOMMEEEE. If CLA45 2020 drivers like C43 then its a great pick. Only issue I see is that it won't have the same exhaust as C43 which in my opinion is a killer.

The interior of our 2019 E450 coupe is what sold me. Traded my c7 corvette primarily because I’m old and it was more of and expensive toy. Don’t feel I gave-up a thing. I get the same thrill in sport mod, luxury over the top....my biggest problem I have is it has taken a year to figure out all the features and still learning.

Found a youtuber that had an E450 on a lease and swapped for a C43 so I believe his experience might help those who are deciding which is better for which use.
|
nvm on the previous links, this is the actual comparison
|
Tuned they will make the same power. FYI

The difference comes down to this: do you want to go fast and play boy racer, or do you want to have a better, more luxurious car? It really is that easy. There isn't a single person on this forum that can answer that for you. If there was a definitive best, it would require eliminating subjective factors, and there would be only 3 or 4 cars in the world. You know the qualities. Look hard at them and make your choice, based on your interests. |
i had a good amount of MBs in my life time, plus other high end brands. but my C43 is the first car I am considering buying after the lease is over. I enjoy it every time i get a chance to drive it and i look forward to it. AMG vs non AMG - always go for an AMG!!!
