Wait, wait why spend $150 for an engine cover when you can just not put it on? Is this done for aesthetic purposes because I fail to see any performance gains from installing an engine cover? Removing the cover will help cold air flow over the engine better, keeping it cooler. By removing the engine cover all I noticed was that it took longer for the engine to warm up in the colder months. In the days of the Musclecar they did not use engine covers, this is an aesthetic thing manufacturers have come up with to improve the look of the engine. From an engineering stand point it seems the engine cover would hold heat in the engine and not allow cool air to flow over it, speeding the cooling process and improve performance, i.e. a cooler eninge runs better than a hot one.
Any opinions?
