Curious about what? Why they would do such a thing?

The engine cover might deflect some heat away from the hood and save the paint from discoloration.

Cause BMS intakes require modifying the hood to get them to fit. So some people suggested just removing the cover all together.

The photos BMS posted had the engine cover on. Why would it be different for other people?

don’t the intakes require removal of the corners of the engine cover for fitment?

Those are the intake boxes, not the engine cover.

The corner of the cover was cut otherwise the cover would not sit flush as it is suppose too. Its not cut a lot, I would suggest getting another cover! That is what I will do once I do this mod, definitely on my todo list.

Wait, wait why spend $150 for an engine cover when you can just not put it on? Is this done for aesthetic purposes because I fail to see any performance gains from installing an engine cover? Removing the cover will help cold air flow over the engine better, keeping it cooler. By removing the engine cover all I noticed was that it took longer for the engine to warm up in the colder months. In the days of the Musclecar they did not use engine covers, this is an aesthetic thing manufacturers have come up with to improve the look of the engine. From an engineering stand point it seems the engine cover would hold heat in the engine and not allow cool air to flow over it, speeding the cooling process and improve performance, i.e. a cooler eninge runs better than a hot one.

Any opinions?

At the same time the Engine cover would prolly help with the hoods paint. Aside from esthetics engine cover may insulate the hood from some heat. Just a thought ??

No difference. On my 335i which was top mount turbo for over 3 years made no difference in hood paint. Imagine all the heat there.
