C450 collision assist braking?

hey guys,

still kind of new to MB and the C450, my car doesn't have the driver assistance package that i am aware of, but speaking for just the standard collision recognition (the dash light and audible noise), would the car brake itself if the driver wouldn't apply in time? this isnt something i really want to check myself for sake of getting into an accident to find out.. i have had the car for a couple of months and today was the first time i heard the audible noise and light come on to warn me of a potential accident threat ahead (it did work)..

i am assuming without the driver assistance package/lane assist all that other special jazz, the car doesn't help much in terms of brake control... can anyone confirm?

I'm almost certain the car will not break by itself without the driver assist package.

I also have a c450 without drivers assist and yes, it will brake for you, even if you don't want it to.

Well, take my advice with a grain of salt. I have the drivers assistance package and have had the car stop by itself when in bumper to bumper traffic.

If the car does indeed stop by itself without the package, then I’d say that’s pretty neat!

2018 C43 sedan
All new C43s have a basic version of automatic braking. The standard system works up to 60 miles an hour with partial braking and I believe 40 mph and under it can do emergency braking.

The C43s that have the Distronic system have automatic braking up to 129 mph I believe.

I have a 2016 C450 without drivers assist and it will emergency brake for you at low speeds. It has done it numerous times when I'm trying to switch lanes but coming up close.

.

hmmm yea i haven't noticed anything yet, but i also haven't been in any really 'hairy' situations yet... the first time i heard the collision detection warning note i thought for sure it would have done some brake application for me. maybe i react too quickly though myself and i didnt notice. would still be nice to hear any experiences from others on this topic. this is essentially my first car with all the neat safety features so this is all new to me. coming from a 2006 Subaru (no safety) then to a 2014 Tacoma which still also didn't have any safety to this car which has lane change assist mirrors (love this feature) and others..

It beeps for me all the time and flashes the warning triangle. Usually when coming up on an island with a sign. It will only brake for you at low speeds though and it's harsh, just slams on the brakes.
