Yes like Richard said there are 2 systems
I have MST and I felt a nice improvement in throttle response and it sounds great!
I prefer the finished look of the MST also

hey I am looking into getting MST, how long have you had it? did you have to modify the engine cover?

No that is another reason I went with mst u do not have to cut your engine cover.
I have had no issues with intake, I also have jb4 and the car runs like a beast

Love it I have had a JB1 and trtuned box and jb4 makes much more power.
I have had it for about month.
No I am on map2 plan on trying other maps when I get some e85 but I am very happy with the power of jb4 and mst intake so I am not rushing

i’m looking to put a tune on my 450. was thinking either jb1 or doing a custom tune. have you taken ur car in for warranty work yet? can mercedes detect the jb1 if i pull it out before heading to the dealer? for warranty purposes is the only reason why i’m pushing away from tuning

Yes I have done warranty I remove the tune before I go
If they look for tune they can see it but my dealer has had no reason to look into my ecu

Once you remove the JB4 even if dealer looks into the ECU they can't tell

It has no idea there is something added.
Slightly, the JB4 has more parameters so it does things slightly differently than the JB1.
For the extra $100 I'd go for the JB4

MST:
PRO-has a more professional look with enclosure / uses easy to find filters for replacement / has a "cold" air effect by enclosing the filters
CON- The enclosure does not work correctly and causing air intake temps to increase by basically putting a metal box on top of engine / enclosure muffles intake sound
Conclusion- I have MST looks awesome sounds amazing I deff felt a increase in throttle response / I also have JB4 and I did not notice any changes in AIT while vehicle is moving.
BMS:
PRO- no enclosure to increase AIT replaces air intake elbow to increase flow / With no enclosure the intake sound is louder.
CON- Filter hits the hood / hard to find filter to replace if needed / no cold air effect by leaving filter exposed / You have to cut the engine cover for them to fit.
This is my opinion your opinion might be different.

custom approach is probably better than either option - remove baffles in stock box and replace intake tube - new filter (k&n) - gg
the BMS removes the ram air effect and makes it a hot air intake with poor fitment (i do like those intake tubes)
MST keeps ram air - but essentially trades the stock enclosure for a worse one and doesn't replace the intake tube

We sell the filters as replacements if needed. So not that hard to get them actually.
Plus, you wont be able to find the MST ones off the shelf either. You need that hole for the vacuum sensor
Ram air effect is always there unless you're covering your front grills lol. Not sure how it's a hot air intake, when we provide heat shields...

Alright so I know this question must come up often, but I can't seem to find a accurate response. Will either intakes void my warranty? Having to remove it before servicing seems like a hassle, so I am looking for some input before buying this.

If you have an engine related failure, odds will always lean in favor of blaming any aftermarket parts on said failure in order to skip out on paying for the warranty work themselves. Get to know your dealer...some will care about something like an intake, some won't.

Our intakes take about 20 minutes to install

While trimming the plastic engine cover is one way to install the BMS intake with it's larger filters and radiant heat shields, alternately you can just leave the engine cover in your garage for a 100% reversible solution.
