C450 AMG - Polar White
what is your starting routine?

C450 here.

Curious what you all do when you start the car and get ready to drive.
i wish many of the features could be programmed so i wouldnt have to click them every time.
it feels like i am in a cockpit of an F18 every time i start the car.

*Start 1 - if driving alone*
1) start car + seat belt
2) switch to Sport+
3) open sun roof (most of the time)
4) media button, select music of choice for that day
5) vehicle button, dynamic controls, engine data to see gauges and temps for fun to begin
6) select button for manual shifting
7) select drive and go

*Start 2 - if i have passengers*
1) start car + seat belt
2) leave in comfort mode, switch off auto start control
3) radio button to select station of choice
4) vehicle button, dynamic controls, engine data to see gauges
5) select drive and go

usually always do the steps in Start1 as i often drive the car alone. but man.... i wish all these settings could be programmed and saved. i believe the C43's automatically save if the car is turned back on in the last few hours, but not sure if all these things would apply.... regardless, i dont have that option in my 450. Anyway, that is the one thing i miss about my old 6speed manual Subaru... not a whole lot of technology, so you start the car, lower the windows and drive.... the noise, the fun driving, was all built into the car (after a lot of mods of course). but with the Benz, to get that fun experience and see all the things i wish were standard, i have to go through menus everytime..... its a love/hate relationship.

whats your normal routine?

In the C43 the only thing it remains after turning off the car, is the Dynamic mode. If you shut down your engine in Sport+ it will remain in Sport+ the next time you start the car. I feel your pain since I have on my C43 exactly the same routine like you have, I wish there was a way to at least have a favorite that allows me to switch to the gauges with a shortcut, but its not possible AFAIK.

I wish there was some sort of way, if someone knows please share!

agreed man, i was all excited when i first setup the car... "oh look a favorites shortcut button, great, ill load up all the screens i want access to right away"..... of course, all the ones i want are not allowed. kind of silly in my opinion. give me access to everything for christ sake.... or, even better, if they made the individual drive mode just change everything with a flick of one button... dynamic screen and all...... that would be paradise. but i guess thats asking too much haha.

Going to Work in the morning:
1. Let the car warmup and allow idle to go down twice
2. Set to ECO
3. Auto start/stop: Off
4. Exhaust: Auto

Looking for Underground Parking at the Gym:
1. Sport +
2. Exhaust: Open

Freeway:
1. Eco
2. Suspension Sport+
3. Exhaust: Open

Local:
1. Eco/Sport depending on mood
2. Suspension Comfort
3. Auto start/stop: Off
4. Exhaust: Auto

Dont use glide function in eco. Constant engage and disengage will cause wear on your clutch disc packs.

If you have auto start stop off, turn this off by going comfort.

2. Switch to Sport +
3. Press brake pedal and start car
4. Pop Pop Pop

Currently in break in period so:
  • auto start/stop off immediately (hate this feature with a passion)
  • exhaust open
  • turn off active brake assist (another feature I find very annoying)
  • car is automatically in comfort so I leave it
  • leave transmission in auto
Once breaking in is complete:
  • auto start/stop off immediately
  • exhaust open
  • turn off active brake assist
  • change drive mode to Sport+
  • leave transmission in auto

its the same in my C43 mate, I have the same msg that you receive on your 450 so I'm not sure how can we add this engine data screen as favorite, I tried million different ways and none works.

If anyone knows, please help!

I tried this today but didn't work ?
Turned on the car without brake but then the car won't switch "modes". How do you switch to Sport + without the use of "dynamic" button on the dash ?

You have to push the car on twice to ON position without the brakes. Pressing once gets to to ACC.

When the car is ON, you can switch to S+

I save that for the parking garage at work.

As silent as possible (ha ha ha) - Comfort and PSE off starting in the garage at home.

Start button twice. Then sport plus. Then ignition. Proceed to Costco. Fill up car. Repeat.
