Let me know if anyone wants to sell their (working - ideally) JB4/JB1. I saw some posts on the forum and I've pm'd - but wanted to get this out there as well.

Thank you!

Ill sell you my JB1 with BT module for 350usd shipped? PM Me. Had it for about a year.

I have a 2017 GLC43 Coupe and I ran a 4.47sec 0-60 and a 12.7@109mph with the JB1. This was all done with 2 additional passengers and 93 octane with 70+% Humidity at about 80degree F night time weather.. (Also FI Exhaust and stock downpipes).

The BT module costs about 140 alone. Most people ask 400 for their JB4. The upgrade kit is 100 new. Overall this is cheaper than most people would sell their unit I think.

I wasn't originally planning to get bluetooth as well, but talk me through it. Having a hard time finding install instructions, but is yours already mounted to the JB1? Also, do you need to route the bluetooth module into the cabin of the car or do you leave it in the engine?

Thanks

If u buy a JB1 with the idea to upgrade to JB4 make sure Jb1 has the right enclosure so the jb4 parts will fit.

Ask me how I know, made same mistake

The BT unit is already mounted onto the JB1. You need either the BT Unit or the data cable to
Log
Change Settings/Maps/Custom Maps

Without functions you will be locked to the default lowest map which is of course slower.

Without BT you need to use the data cable AND a notebook which needs to be attached to the JB1 WHILE the car is running.
Obviously this is very difficult since there is a long as fking cable you need to connect the JB1 and the notebook. Which means you.need your hood and window to be open. Also you cannot log unless you are actually driving so having you hood open is definitely a problem. You cannot log while the car is idle.

Anyways I made the mistake of trying to save money by getting the 30 dollar data cable instead of the BT module and quickly realized that the Data Cable was completely useless cause trying to log on a notebook while driving is not wise.

Trust me, you NEED the BT.

The BT is accessed through an app that you download through iTunes or Google play. It costs like 25 or 30 dollars. It is not transferable so I can't give you my app purchase.

Anyways you need the BT and it's already connected to the JB1.

Yes it is kept in the engine bay. Primarily because the cables that connect the sensors the JB1 is intercepting to the harness is not long enough for you to store it anywhere else.

Which is another reason why not having the Bluetooth Module is a really bad idea.

Thanks for the info - can you send me some photos of the JB1 as well as the Blutooth module so that I can assess the condition and confirm all components are there?

Thank you

As another member said, If you plan to upgrade to JB4 tuner, you need to change the case. I dont see it on the website anymore but I am sure they still offer it. It was like 30-40usd I think (This is a 30-40usd ontop of the upgrade kit that costs $100). The case should be easy to change. I opened the case when I mounted the BT Module, since it requires the wires to be spliced. The JB1 PCB is just a single piece. It should be a simple, straight changing of the case. Like changing a phone case almost.

If you decide to just purchase a regular JB4, just know that it will require alot MORE wire routing than the JB1, and it will also require you to cut through the grommet wall to connect to your OBDII. Which is the reason I did not upgrade to JB4 myself. The JB4 price of $580 also does not include the JB4 BT (which I am including). Confusing I know.

If I sell the JB1, I will just go full tune. Otherwise I will just stick with the JB1 (still not upgrading to JB4).

Even if you dont plan to change usermaps or use custom settings (for more boost), the Logging function is actually extremely useful. First and foremost, using the log function alone will tell you if the JB1/4 (or even your full tune) is working properly (without having to pay for a dyno session which is more than 140USD). You can tell if your JB1/4/Full Tune is working properly just by looking at the log because the log will tell you what boost you hit at each rpm. Basically If you are hitting 15-16psi max boost at the top of the gears in a pre facelift, the JB1 is working, because the stock max boost is 12.1psi.

The real question is how much you value what BMS offers by going all in. Having ridden the full train from betas to full JB4 as it's sold today, I personally wouldn't waste your time with this, and would recommend spending the money on the JB4 and bluetooth module. I'm not saying JB1 is bad by any stretch of the imagination, but you're going to get all set up and be left yearning for more. Just my $.02
