Do you have a photo? Did they take the bumper bar off to inspect? There is alot of other components inside the bumper bar like park assist, anti collision and other items.

Also I would be asking them what type of clear coat they will be using. Mercedes are painted in cerami-clear from factory (high solid anti scratch clear coat). If you get the car painted in normal medium solid clear you will notice a difference in texture and it will scratch easier.

You need them to remove the bumper fascia to check everything behind it before agreeing to the estimate. Or have them agree to cover any hidden items which I bet the won't. I've had 2 incidents of very minor damage to the rear bumper fascia and when remove the was hidden damage that I would have never guessed.

PS, first time other drivers insurance paid so I didn't care and it was around $2k with cover replaced. Second I paid and it was $1100 and they fixed, can't tell any repair. Both done in MB dealers shop with lifetime warranty for anything.

someone rear ended my 2016 C450 about a year ago, the body shop billed the insurance $14,600
