New 2020 C43 - occasional clunk noise from rear right

I just took delivery of my new 2020 C43 and I love it so far. However, every once-in-a-while it make a single "clunk" or "thump" that sounds like it's coming from the rear right side. It sounds a bit like something was kicked up into the wheel well, but a bit more of a metallic clunk.

I can't find anything that's loose - nothing in the trunk or back seat, the rear seat backs are latched, the lug nuts are tight, everything feels tight. It doesn't happen every time we drive the car and it doesn't seem associated with things like bumps or turns or acceleration. It just happens every so often.

So I called the dealer who said that it's something with the fuel system ("fuel transfer pump" if that's a thing?) and that it's expected and normal. I've owned many cars over the years and have never experienced something that sounds this abnormal but is fine. Has anybody else experienced this that can confirm that this is normal (or not)?

I read somewhere something about this with the run flats and cold but could not find that video. I did find this. Is this similar to why your having?

No, this isn't at low speeds and you can't "feel" anything when it happens, just a clunk like it threw a branch up into the wheel well, but a bit more metallic - not quite a thud, more of a clunk.

Calling the dealer this morning to have a discussion about it. It just doesn't seem normal to me.

My 2020 C43 sedan with about 1500 miles makes no such noises. so I'd say it is not normal.

Anything in the well where the spare tire used to be?

My 2019 c43 needed a new rear driver's side shock absorber replacement 6000 miles in from new. Probably not the issue but thought I'd mention just in case.

Hope you get it sorted mate.

All the best

So, it turns out one of the tie-down hooks wasn’t removed when the car was transported to the dealer and it was occasionally banging against the spring making noise. All taken care of now. :-)
