Stange boost noise

I recently noticed an odd noise when the boost indicator goes past half. It's almost like a grinding noise but not as aggressive...honestly I am having a helluva time trying to describe the noise.

Not sure it's a Wastegate issue as from the videos I have seen online, mine definitely isn't as loud or constant. Again only happens when (I can visually see) the boost indicator increase past half and happens for a second.

I know I am not providing much but I am wondering if anyone else has experienced an "odd" sound with the turbo that isn't matching up with a Wastegate issue.

Describe the noise as best as you can. Does it sound like dried leaves rustling in the wind?

Likely the wastegate issue a lot of people with the m276 are having.

It almost sounds as if the edges of a fan blade of rubbing on the sides of something. It’s faint but loud enough to hear if you’re listening for it.

The wastegate videos I’ve seen sound so much louder then what I’m hearing.

How do you know noise is coming from the turbos?

Remove the airfilters and put your ear in each housing. Better yet, if you still have warranty, drop your car off to the dealer.

I don’t...I am assuming as it’s only happening when the boost gauge is showing active.

I can feel your pain. Got the same, the sound is more noticeable cruising on the highway. Got to dealership and they didn't find it.

Sort of.

I removed the K&N filters and put back in the MB factory filters. Reduced the questionable noise by about 70% (which seems odd as MB put A LOT of money and time into diagnosing this) The noise was definitely still there, but after months and hours of trying to fix it completely, they came to the conclusion it was "normal". Which is complete BS as I owned a 2018 C43 and it never made that noise.

In the end I ended up selling it and moving back to Audi and got a RS5. I loved the AMG, but the complete run around and BS in the end that I received from MB ever after owning 3 AMG's in 4 years made me jump ship.

There is clearly something, and guys who put on aftermarket intakes are hearing it a lot, Bc the stock one was prob designed to hide the noise.

that RS5 is amazing!!!
