C450 tuned vs q50

Got absolutely smoked 3/3 times from a dig by a Q50. I feel like I’m at a stand still from the take off compared to this Infiniti even if I’m sitting at 4k rpm upon launch. Am I an idiot or is my c450 with jb4 on map 2 with intake just slow as hell?

When running cars off a dig launch is the most important thing. You’re revving too high and you could be hitting torque limits. Try launching around 2-2.3k rpms should be much better. I have a e400 which is almost 1000 pounds heavier with the same engine except mine is eurocharged tuned and I easily take tuned q50s off the launch even full e85 tuned ones.

You should try 6k rpm next time.

I hope that's sarcasm.

Anyhow, try not to rev so high. Do you know what this Q50 is running? It's a red sport 400 I'm assuming?

I’m assuming it’s modded? Stock vs. stock I’d expect a C43 to be just slightly faster than a Q50.

Well at end of the day both cars depreciate like ***, you can probably trade in your c450 for q60 redline for same price.

That’s gotta be the reason the OP lost the drag race.

yea the first time I took off at about 2k and then 3k and by the third time I said **** it and did about 5k. Maybe I’ll just go get some practice in at 2-3k. Thanks for the input

Whats your usual 0-60 with the jb4 and was the q50 tuned? Tuned q50s are about as fast as our cars (tuned also). I have seen 0-60 times in the 3.4s with bolt ons and jb4 e85.

I have not seen a C43 or C450 get anywhere near low 3 second 0-60. Please provide supporting information as I haven’t broken 4 seconds on mine and I have all performance bolt ones except WMI.

There's many in the 3 sec range if you look at the Dragy leaderboards. I'll attach a particularly fast one. Mods please delete if not allowed. Thanks

To edit, also have a look at this video of someone with a c43 coupe and a eurocharged tune doing a 3.9s

https://youtu.be/mzsEEfSft6s

Sedan should be a bit faster due to weight.

I ran a 3.30 with catless downpipes and consistently run 3.5’s with the cats on. Eurocharged and a e30 mix. Available on dragy.

@18bora used to have one of the best times w/ a jb4. I’ve never launched above 2.5k as the general consensus is that’s the sweet spot, and much higher I imagine is pretty brutal on the ol torque converter. He sold his c43 for a glc63 so I think he’s just in here trolling

To the OP: I assume you had T/C off. If not, that is likely a large contributing factor.

Those are some great times. Are you shifting yourself or auto?

I leave it in auto. One, auto seems to be perfectly up to the job. On my logs, it shifting at peak rpm. From the small research I've done, there's no benefit to short-shifting these cars. The HP starts to drop about 5900, but you still have the greatest overall HP by revving all the way through and shifting back into the high HP region.

Secondly, its probably just with tuned cars but there is no way in hell I'm ever nailing my shifts from 1-2 in manual. The paddle changes are just too slow

I assumed as much, I'd never try lol so I don't know the answer to that (how do you?). But still, people are coming here for answers and the last thing you'd want is some guy new to cars reading that and cutting his TC's life in at least half trying to get it to 6k rpm

I have a 2018 c43 sedan with jb4 only and on map2 with 3 gallons of e85 I can tick off 12.0@115mph 1/4 all day long in warm weather and in colder weather high 11s with a best of 11.7 @ 118. 0 to 60s best of 3.6 and always under 4 seconds. I briefly brake torque up to 2200 rpm and let off. Tc in sport and suspension in comfort. I have no idea how you could even brake torque up to 5k.

Wondering the same thing.

The MB surely wouldn't lose to a base Q50, but the Q50 red sport has 400hp.

The C43 should not lose to a Q50 red sport stock vs stock. The transmission in the red sport is horrible and there is a bit more turbo lag than in the C43.
