Does facelift performance exhaust get a bit louder after a few thousand miles?

Just wondering what peoples experience is? My pre facelift PE definitely got a bit louder after about 6000 miles- same thing with the facelift? There’s a thread in c63 forum that seems to indicate this occurs on their facelift model so hoping same is true for our 43’s 🙂

Yes, back when my 2017 was new I used to drive it lightly to break-in the engine. After break-in I put the vehicle in sport+ and enjoyed the noise but it was more muted than I expected as at first the vehicle adapted to my calm driving style during break-in, it took a couple of weeks to gradually get louder and have pops.

Thanks, I’m asking specifically about the 2019 and newer model years. I owned a pre facelift version previously but now have the facelift.

I see, sorry about that but I honestly don't see why the facelift would be different.

nice, I’ve done the same! But I’m still a bit disappointed, my 2018 was quite a bit louder at high rpm and had more liftoff crackles in any mode and any rpm. Right now I’m not getting any liftoff crackles at mid to high rpm in sport or comfort modes.

FWIW, I did test drive the facelift and did notice it sounded different. I heard people calling the change a more "refined" or "matured" sounding exhaust. North American's facelift C 43 should not have the OPF so that isn't the reason. I noticed the facelift's pumped in audio is louder too compared to my 2017.

Some forum members here actually did a comparison and pulled a few fuses and confirmed that our cars have pumped in audio, that includes the C 63 facelift:

By the way, incase you don't know, even if you set the exhaust valves open, it is not open fully. So that module will help for sure.

Here is an alternative method mentioned by another forum member if you don't want to get the module:

They nerfed the exhaust due to regulations. Its way quieter on facelift cars.

On my 2020 C43 I was disappointed with the sound of the Performance Exhaust until around 2k miles. At 2k it really kicked in and since then I generally drive in Sports+ except for during the Chicago winters.

That gives me some hope. I’ve been using sports plus a lot as well since it’s not nearly as aggressive as in the pre facelift. Hopefully some high rpm use will open up the exhaust a bit. I have the Renntech evm as well.

I feel the same here with a 2021. I was very disappointed at first with my PE compared to the 2018 that I had. But after several thousand miles I feel like it sounds are comparable to the 2018, few less crackles but overall I have been please with the matured sounds with time.
