Is this a member engine ? M276 3.0 Turbo, water hammer damage

Hi Guys,

Fresh from one of my favorite channel

I would be curious to have a full story on this one.
If engine filter is standard its suction/intake location is quite high above the radiator and the filter element airbox has water vent hole, albeit small.

The con-rod bearing doesn't seems normal for a 30K miles engine, unless the water in engine oil is really a lot and engine has time to run a bit after the water hammer. There must be more story to this.

This small hole in the oil pan and the aluminum thick part of the oil pan........ what caused this ?

Hope the owner is in this forum , and can share valuable information.

ADD : I would like to thank the engine owner, Mr Matt for the donation to the I Do Car channel for the teardown.
My engine is the same, just lower power. Nice to see its components being removed for learning.

I like watching that YouTube channel. I want to know the backstory on a lot of his tear downs.

I am wondering if the driver attempted to drive into some high water while also striking an object that punctured the pan. Could be a likely culprit. Texas gets some pretty wild floods after a large rain, could easily have ran over something hidden by the water. If water being sucked into the intake didn’t do it perhaps the fouled oil siezed the piston? Just thinking.
