Who's got the high mileage award?

Currently at 120,122 miles. Bought my C450 secondhand with 42,000 miles. Averaging 24,000 miles per year as the daily driver. I am observing 5,000 mile oil change intervals with M1 5W-40 euro synth. Bone stock, except for the oil solenoid switch delete mod. I'm following the MB recommended service interval on other items (spark plugs at 40K, 80K, and now 120K for example). Transmission oil and filter service at 60K and now 120K. Looking to take mine THE DISTANCE. Anyone else hanging here with a high mileage sled?

95k miles on my C450. Glad to hear your car has been in good health for 120k miles - reinforces my decision to buy one to daily til the wheels fall off.

142k, 2019.
Mostly reliable. Driveshaft / motor mounts under extended warranty at 55k miles. Both valves replaced on the mufflers. Lots of tires. Front discs at 100k and rears at 140k. A few pad changes. Rear shock found blown when I did the discs and pads, replaced rear shocks.
BBS wheels to replace bendy amg wheels. Engine stock.
Change oil every 7k, change engine air filters every 20k. Plugs every 50k. Watch the vacuum valve in the back.

Haha " LOTS OF TIRES". im only at 54k but not looking forward to buying lots of tires especially with staggered 20's. But at 142k I think you have done well and have a solid car!

Cheers & big congrats on the 142K! You're in the lead speedlaw. I also replaced rear rotors & pads at 67K, and they now have 5mm @ 120K. I never use the cruise control as it munches brake pads very subtly. Got barely a seep on the front differential. No shocks yet, but I use Sport + sparingly in my commute; maybe 3% of the time to pass quarry trucks on the two lane highway in the daily run. Speaking of quarry trucks, I replaced the windshield with OEM glass (after getting shelled by larger than a golf ball @ 65mph), and despite the shop recalibrating the computer post installation - the intermittent wipers still do not work...so back to the glass guys I go for a 2nd calibration.

These cars should come out of the dealer with a P.S.A. to drop the OEM run flats and AMG stock rims ASAP. No one needs the anguish of cracked rims at (ballpark) $500 apiece. Any aftermarket rim and UHP tire combination is an immediate stress reliver. Kudos to all senior forums members for bringing us newbies up to speed on the pitfalls and mods for endurance.

My wife's C400 has 132,000 miles on it currently. No major issues.

I picked up a 2024 c8. The plan was to get a 992 Turbo S in a year or two, but I could not justify the purchase now without the planned substantial down payment. I like the c8 far more than I thought I would.

Thats great !
Which BBS wheels did you go with ? Im also considering some BBS wheels

speedlaw Dec 18, 2024 12:36 PM

Late reply, but I have BBS SR wheels. Got them from tire rack, they are TUV approved for Germany.
8 inch. ET 30 front and ET 45 rear. (18 inch, my roads suck)
NO SPACERS (I have a real issue with the mere concept).
I run 235/45 all around because my roads don't allow 40 profiles or less to survive. Still can't rotate tho due to offsets, the 45-s hit the calipers in front.
