Anybody see this review (Auto Express Track Battle)?

If you watch until the end, it is revealed that the standard W205 C63 actually set the fastest dry lap (beating out the AWD Audi). The AWD Audi just edged out the standard C63 in the rain (Steve was running ESP Off on the Merc).

Furthermore, Steve Sutcliffe says he'd pick the W205 C63 because it "makes you smile more."

Enjoy:

Yes I've seen this one. Felt it was unfair to run an AWD against a rear wheel drive while it was wet. Why didn't they show the later run in the dry?

Exactly my thoughts as well. The fact that the standard model bested an AWD car around a circuit was impressive to me.

Steve is a good driver (not a borderline pro hotshoe like Harris) but might have been even tidier with ESP Sport engaged.

Nonetheless, it was nice hearing him talk about how much enjoyment driving the AMG brought.

Yes I've also seen this one before it was posted up

Firstly I'd just like to say the colour on that AMG looks awesome, it really suits the W205 Estate.

Also as already pointed out although they are both natural rivals it is a little of a miss-match comparison, as the Audi is AWD vs RWD and the new AMG has FI vs N/A.

In the dry and on solid surfaces the AMG obviously has the advantage

Audi do have a TT 4.0ltr V8 that's very similar to AMG's M177/8 and one wonders what the outcome would be if the new RS4's or 5's were fitted with that power plant...although recent reports suggest that Audi will most probably follow BMW in downsizing to a 6 cylinder for future RS4 & 5 models.

It would also be interesting to consider how good the C63's would be with AWD definitely put them on another level if current reviews of the C450 AWD are anything to go by, a C63 with AWD would be phenomenal !!!

Well you cannot control the weather, if you've booked a circuit or day to do this and it rains then that's just life. Maybe the camera crew had packed up and gone home by the time it dried out?

Then why not drive it in sport plus and have some better traction?
