Edmunds first impressions of the C63
You can read about it here:

Well, the first impressions from Edmund's are all positive. Just like the C55 was superior to the C32 in everyway, the C63 seems to be superior to the C55 in everyway.......this may be the first C-AMG car to truly take the M3 head on in terms of driving dynamics.
Don't you love progress???

..........Impressive. AMg may have hit a home run on this one. The 6.2L engine finally in a light weight chasis.

And reading between the lines, there's an 030 package. One review referred to optional 19" wheels. This one adds "sport package" with LSD and raised VMax.

Cee Fiddy Five
and the limited-slip differential goes to work
But the 030 C63 I'm guessing will be around...70k? I guess by the time this is out, the RS4 will no longer be in production.

2007 SLK55 AMG Iridium Silver
with 457 horses under the hood, the power to weight ratio is just outstanding!! that's about 8.3lbs/hp!! it should run 0-60mph under 4.5 seconds easily, given it has the 7g as opposed to the 5g in the supercharged 55 engines

G55 & SLK55
I think Mercedes and AMG have contributed well this time, first of all I like the Hood which reminds me of some AMG favourites like the ML55 and SLK32 hood bumps.
Secondaly, the wider flares are a nice touch and has that CLK63 Black series look.
I must say hopefully my next car would be either this or a G55AMG in a few years.

C32
The 030 package includes a key LSD that pretty much sums up the so called dynamic prowess of the C63. I'm sure that package is going to cost upwards of 5G with the optional 19 in wheels, but I really don't see the writers raving about the car without the LSD.

C63
Two things really stuck out for me.
That's a pretty bold statement. Kudos to AMG if they pulled that one out with a C.
Indeed, we'd say this car is superior to any other regular Mercedes-Benz model.

Despite toying with the idea of equipping its latest sport sedan with a new dual-clutch sequential manual gearbox that is nearing production,

LSD is great.. and 19"s are nice.. but I definately will do with out.
AMG's are about speed, comfort and style and now mix in a better tuned suspension with greater handling capabilities.
LSD or not, it will be probably the best handling "sedan" from the AMG line up.

The only M3 I have driven is a fiends 286bhp 6 cylinder model and the zingy engine reminded me of the VTEC Integra I drove but more so and I loved it; but that was the model that was down played compared to the 4 cyl original M3's so those must have been even more fantastic.
Why am I talking about M3's? Well because although BWM have been progressing the M3 slowly from it's high base with the odd dip the thing that always stood out was the rev happy 6 cylinder engine. On the other hand the only thing that stood out for the AMG C class was it's big V8 from the C43 onwards. Now that BMW have gone V8 AMG have lost that trump card but it seems it has spurred them onto greater things to compensate.
No ESP ...
LSD available ...
Handling improvements....
BMW are making small improvements and Mercedes are making big improvements.
And the new C63 looks fantastic. The new BMW 3 series looks average. The saloon looks like a Mitsubishi Carisma at the back and the coupe like an Audi.
It took me years to save up for a C43 as I am not on a big wage, and I love it. I wish I could buy or run a C63 but it looks like I will have to wait a few years to get a previously owned one. Which hurts. I guess at least the reversion to square headlights mean my C43 looks a bit more modern to the unknowing general public.
AMG really got into their stride with the C class, good to see them really pulling out all the stops with it once again for this model. Looking forward to the 7 litre V8 in 2012......
Regards
Andy
