eeehhh, f*ck it, why not.....i'll ask a 3rd question
on the mb site where they listed prices and options, they made no mention of Carbon Fiber...
is this because it is very limited, or did they scrap it all together??
any input is greatly appreciated
thanks fellas

Your question made me think of another question... the new iPhone OS can play internet radio streams. Can you the MB iPod integration allow you to play internet radio streams through the vehicle stereo?
Follow up questions: is this so esoteric that I am the only person that even cares if this works?

You need to buy the Ipod intergration kit from the dealer or audio specialist they install it and you plug into that.
09 models come with a new Media Interface module which gives you a lot more control.

The older iPhone can be upgraded to the new OS (version 2.0), but I'm not sure if the EDGE network is wide enough to allow the radio to be streamed. The 3G network is definately wide enough.
The big question is can you play this stream through the vehicle audio system. I think that would be super cool.

Haha...this thread is hilarious...too many questions and too few answers so I'll try to give you guys the run down on the system...At least, imo.
All the cars can be equipped outside of the factory with iPod integration kit. This means that you have an Apple Brand dedicated jack once or when installed. As to other MP3 players, these can be connected as well...it's a matter of finding a cord which that connects the player to the car... (someone try to find a picture of the new 09 SL MP3 cable please...will show you what I'm talking about)
As to where the cable goes when not already installed, it is physically plugged into an output in the back of the head unit and routed through the side of the glove box. This usually requires drilling a hole or removing a pass through panel on most cars.
In regards to your questions about the iPod and streaming music being fed through the system, it is feasible...it's all a matter of whether the phone can keep up with the data stream while it's moving. Think about it, when connected, your iPod can store and play MP3 files, Apple Store music files, CD's that you have phyiscally burned onto your computer and so forth...
What I'm trying to get at is that the iPod can store and read numerous types of audio encoding and sends it all out in a format that can be read by the head unit. Therefore, since the phone is the entity that is doing the work to get the music from an external source, it should just as easily be able to direct it through the cradle cable in a format that the head unit can read and send off to the speakers. The only hitch that I can think of is lack steady connection and download speed to keep it streaming properly, as well as the phone or player putting itself into airplane mode which restricts its capability of connecting to wireless networks of any sort.
In terms of the 09, connectivity will be made simpler through the addition of an SD slot.
As to the important stuff...Carbon Fiber is only available in Europe as of now through the help of the AMG Performance studios...Same principle with the 19" wheels. The Performance Studio option for the United States is currently under review in regards to feasibility...They will likely wait to offer these options to our market until one of two things happens: AMG Performance Studios in the US are given the go ahead, or until the car gets it's refresh...Speaking of that, imagine how much better the car will be when it's refreshed...I can't imagine it's possible because it's already gorgeous, but it will inevitably be outdone....
Any thoughts? Hope this helps and that I don't sound like a complete dumbass..

This is indeed off topic, but it's possible. Google "Sirius Radio iPhone" and there are plenty of how-to's.

FWIW, the C55 Kit is just for iPods. However, if you have another MP3 player, you can plug your player into the Aux jack in the glovebox--but you don't get the dash display or the steering wheel controls...
