Weird Noise While Backing Up

Has anyone ever head a weird noise when the have the wheel all the way turned (right or left) while reversing??? I can also feel it in the pedals also, my friend tells me it is nothing to worry about, I am just wondering if anyone else has noticed this....

I always hear Haddaway's What is Love? but I got the Progressive House Package (PHP 020) with my car.

Seriously. I don't hear what you are describing with my car.

I hear nothing. Do you have a LSD?

Its kind of hard to explain the sound, but it sounds like really loud clicking like the brakes/wheel are hitting something... You can even feel it in the steering wheel.

Yes I do have LSD
I'd get that checked out. Update the thread if you find out the source.

What I like!
I would guess it is the diff. It might be normal though. Did it just start, or did you just recently start backing up that way and notice it? I have a car with an aftermarket LSD and it does make binding sounds/thumps sometimes when going at odd angles at slow speeds.

I have had the same problem in two LSD-equipped cars. I currently also have a 2006 BMW Z4 M Coupe that when new would groan and shudder in similar conditions, occasionally making a very loud "snapping" noise during tight radius turns done at low speeds. It apparently had to do with clutch packs binding and releasing (as told to me by the service manager) and was eventually solved with the use of a special BMW differential fluid (cost $140/ltr) reserved for the hard to solve cases such as mine. Interestingly, only a relatively small number of M Coupes had this problem, from what I understand. You may want to investigate the alternative or OE replacement (as supplied by M-B) fluid end of things if it is indeed the LSD.

Sorry to reserect this thread, I hear the same loud click too when going in reverse at a sharp turn. My 2010 C63 is NOT LSD equipted, and it just started doing it (but perhaps I never noticed it before).

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, I believe I'm hearing/feeling the same thing. It does not sound good. My guess is that it is the shock tower/spring interface since they turn with the wheel. It's hard to believe its the differential.

OK, so the alignment guy found the source of the noise. When I replaced my upper control are bolt, I didn't torque it tight enough. The bolt comes in two options; Standard or Camber kit option. The camber kit option has a small groove down the center which allows you to move an extra 1mm or so to get your camber adjusted better/more. The problem is that if it slips out of the groove, it can move around and make that annoying noise). My car had a standard bolt on the right side and the camber bolt on the left. I guess when the previous owner had the wheel alignment done (before the accident) that shop swapped it out.

Anyways, the car drives a straight as an arrow and no more annoying clicking sounds. I may buy the $7 standard bolt as a back up since the alignment guy said it works much better.

204 chassis c-class have a macpherson front suspension - which has no upper control arm - The strut acts like the upper control arm. The rear suspension has multi link with no camber adjustment on the rear - and no bolts to swap out. So im really not sure what you're talking about. do you mean lower control arm?

There are two linkages at the bottom (for each front wheel). I just assumed one was upper and the other was lower. The one closer to the front was the culprit. Once it was torqued correctly the noise went away.
