Speaking of C/F roofs, here's another project we are just starting.

Today:

In two weeks:

I am sure there will be some that won't like it and others that will. However, we road race and drag race this car and I'll take 60# off the top anyday. Will keep you updated as progress occurs.

I wished that Mercedes given us a no sunroof option. I have to pay more for something I rarely use and also adds weight.

Dadsc63, That a great project you have going. 60lbs is quite a bit off in that location. Do you plan to use any special type of bracing to keep it rigid or re-use the oem bracing?

I would suspect the original bracing stays in place. They are just removing the roof skin and sunroof assembly and replacing with the CF piece.

What goes in place of the empty ceiling where the sunroof used to be? Do you reuse the sunroof shade?

Eurorev has a custom c63 with CF roof far from being finished but still interesting....the whole top was chopped off. I think the inside of the CF roof has to be lined with suede or some material with a steel cross bar at minimum?

To answer the last part of your question, Keith ordered a new factory headliner for a C (non-sunroof) model to retain the factory look and feel, just without sunroof.

This should be a SICK project. Looks unreal on the car. The CARBON look is really starting to grow on me. Now we just need to find a carbon fiber trunk lid...... ANYONE????????

VIS Racing said their carbon fiber trunk weighs in at 12#... waiting on a call back from Mercedes on factory trunk weight.
