2012 C63 P31 Dissapointed :(
Those of you who are under the impression that stock P31 performance Package C63 is the same as a ECU tuned and some bot ons are surely delusional.
I got tempted and traded in my 2010 Brabus b63s for a 2012 c63 with the P31 package. I love the gearbox / suspension and wider seats. But that is about it.
The car is significantly slower than what my older car was.
I just chalked it up to the new gearbox being quicker and that was why i did not feel the massive lurch. And today my suspicions were confirmed. I have a friend with a 2012 GTS and with my old car I would pull him about 3 cars on a certain "fairly short" secluded piece of road even with a bad launch i would pull him 2 plus on that short run.
Today I could barely keep up with him in the new car.
Please tell me there are some hidden horsepower that will magically be released. If I knew it would be this bad I would have saved the 7k and put that towards the Brabus upgrade instead. I am sure my older car was not some magical factory freak. But dam the difference was/is night and day. I swear it feels like I am 100HP down
Sorry if I am ranting and sound like a spoiled brat. but man i miss my old car.
I even phoned the stealership today and ask them if I can buy my old car back but a lead tech there bought it the very next day I sold it
Now the hunt continues to find out who can bump up the p31 cars more that the "apparently" 5HP
ok I will stop now and go drink some adult beverage...

No offense, but did you test drive it before you made the decision? Are you going to try a tune and some other mods to see if you can boost the performance? Where abouts in the Bay Area are you located? I'm in the East Bay.

But I nowhere near nailed it like I would if I owned it.
THe great box is truly phenomenal and changes in a heartbeat. It changes how the car drives completely. I thought to myself that the car would be 20 or so HP down on the brabus. But it turns out that they are not conservative hp numbers i believe that these cars are 480hp and my brabus was around 540.
I think the mistake I made was to listen to rumblings on here that the P31 has the same HP as a ECU only non p31.
For me at least with the car I got.. "This I promise you, is truly not the case". There is no way in hell this car makes 510hp. Its either that of my brabus made 580hp. Which is even more unlikely.

The Vivid modified C63 that I purchased was tuned and should have an output of around 530+ hp.
I know that they tuned it with PowerChip and put on headers with the Agency Power exhaust.

No offense taken. I already sent and email to Brabus last night and should hear back from them in the next few hours. It's just a hard "price" pill to swallow to spend the loot on them again. Although I was incredibly happy with the older car. So I will lean towards going with them again. Every other dealer on here seems to claim very very little increase in numbers on the 2012 P31's.
I kept a buch of the parts from the Brabus kit and installed them this evening.
Intakes and airboxes ect..
I have not tested them but will in the morning. I have not even been able to get the traction light to come on from a dig in sport.

Well, tbh, I doubt that any stock MB including a BS would trump a Brabus modifed AMG. I hope you can boost the feel and power of the car with the "left overs" though.

Wasn't there thread about Brabus tuned pre facelift PP C63 gaining only 7hp?
Did you check it?

Yes I read it as well.
Wich was also one of the main reasons I did not think twice about the P31...
Also interesting on that was that the brabus b63 kit was only 2k pounds. It seems they charged him for the b63s kit but never installed the cats or headers.

I can kind of understand your frustration, and I kind of can't. Your B63S has much more than what the C63 with P31 has...I just looked up the B63S kit and they quote 390 kW, which is roughly 520 hp. I get why you're upset, because you came from a car that has that much to a weaker car, but the fact is that no one said that the C63 with P31 would keep up with a B63S, they said it would keep up with a standard non-P31 C63 with a tune. OE tuning has a video of a race with a 2011 P31 C63 and a standard 2010...C63
...I can see how you'd be upset if you just had a tuned C63 but a B63S package is much more than that. The engine hasn't changed since 2010 except the with the SLS parts...I think if you are that upset you should look at upgrading the performance then such as another tune. But multiple people have put up dynos of P31 and tuned non-P31 cars that are very similar in power...I'm sorry you're upset but that doesn't seem very logical...either way I hope you end up happy with your C63...

taking practical / dyno'ed results aside....
C63 makes 451bhp
C63 Performance Pack makes 487bhp
Brabus B63S is an E63 platform NO??? engine makes 525bhp stock....from AMG factory.....
with the brabus kit... power gets bumped up to 555bhp after air filter, ecu and sports cats upgrade.... correct me if I am wrong....
just to OT a little.... a C63 PP making 487bhp with an ECU tune would make 520bhp??

Yea I know.. I am just venting.. but come on, if my brabus made 530 and the p31 is "suppose to make the same as a tuned non p31 -- with is around 512" there is no way 28hp equates to 3 car length on a 0 - 120mph run.

The b63S is a moniker for all the 63 engines. C/E/S/SLS/ML all of them will get badged as B63S
There are 2 engine variants.
B63 wich is a tune only
B63S wich is the intake, tune, shorties and 200 cell cats.
That is my thinking exactly, i think there is this idea that a p31 makes 512hp.
People think that it is under rated as 481hp. But as i mentioned at least for my car it truly does feel and seem like it is as they rate it 481hp.
So a tune should get me back to the 520 area. with cats and shorties around 540

That's interesting, I haven't read anywhere really that gives tunes that high of a rating on a stock C63. I've read a lot that give 475-490's but not any that I know of that go to 520...that's a nice tune lol...and I'm pretty sure on this site I read somewhere that the C63 with P31 only increased like 4 bhp from a tune from Brabus...but either way man, I hear ya...I know what you mean, and it must be frustrating...but you'll be busting your B63S soon enough with mods...and you'll have the new facelifted one which looks better imo...it's not going to be right away but you'll be faster than your B63S...just bear with the measly 481 Best of luck man...

Why not just put the same mods onto your p31
Any p31 is as a fast as a tuned c63.
Vids and dynos prove it.
I believe OE holds the tune only 1/4 mile record and I raced an OE tune only c63 and was a dead tie

Anybody telling you that the P31 wont see gains from an ECU tune, is purley full of ****. Talk to Weistec they will be able to boost your car to at least a 30rwhp gain.
I saw a 2012 p31 being tuned @ PP-Performance and they also managed too pick up 30HP
Stay away from Brabus. Expensive for no reason and absoloutely no competetion with other M156 tuners. Good luck

^ I gained on the dyno but didn't see any improvement on the road. Did vbox 60-130 runs before and after, same location, same temps and had no improvements. I was told by several tuners there can only be minor gains and maybe a little more if tuned specifically for 93 or higher gas

sorry to say that your tuner sucks. How can you gain HP on the dyno and not see results on the road??. Maybe your Vbox sucks as well.

Intelligent response
Vbox works perfect
Tuner has some of the fastest cars
Dyno isn't everything. Good luck. Was just sharing my experience. Go spend the money and try it out for yourself.

I'm just saying how could you possibly see gains on the dyno without feeling anything on the road?
BTW, I have a VBOX and I always record my results after each mod I make :-)
how much did you gain anyway?
And whos the tuner that has the fastest cars?

OP.....so you're saying you are surprised and disappointed that your tune only car isn't as fast as your other car with a tune...and intake....and headers....and high flow cats....
Ok...what do you expect?? Jeez...what the heck is happening around here with posts like this???

Dude, calm down and get your facts straight. His previous car is a Brabus B63 S. He never had headers or intake mods. Brabus usually change the paper filters and switch to sport filters and changing the restrective 400 Cell catalytic converters to 200 cells. Therfore, it is primaraly an ECU tune only.
