Quarter mile time
Hi guys, my car is involved in a tuner shoot out for Motor Magazine here in Australia and is doing tests of all sorts over today and tomorrow
I have been told that it did the 0-100km/hr in 4.2 secs and the quarter mile in 12.3 secs. The car was driven straight from the road onto track and on street tyres, stock suspension in every respect, aussie 98 octane fuel (i think = to US 93 octane). Mods are 1)Brabus ECU tune 2) sport cats & 3) Vath mufflers only (so no change in pipes between engine and cat or cat to muffler)
Is this any good??. Temp in aus today is 68 deg fahrenheit, 70% humidity and elevation of track is about 150ft above sealevel. I didnt drive and wasnt there (at work) so i have no idea of what mode car was in transmission wise or whether ESP on/off etc. I have no idea of whether the 12.3 is corrected or uncorrected, whatever that means ..
Any thoughts?

Two important peices of information are missing:
60" time.......tells the story about traction especially when you are not on drag radials
Trap speed.......best measure of power although most of the 120+ runs here in the states were done in temps below 60 degrees

If they want to use a car for a tuner shoot out then they should have the owner there and driving. Otherwise, whoever is driving it is guessing how to drive it. Seems kinda dumb.
Looks BAD for Brabus. There are bone stock cars out there running that kind of time in those conditions. Sorry but you ask.

Compared to other c63s in aus, your on the ball for a tuned figure. Quickest is 12.1 @ heathcote. With complete headers and exhaust quickets in aus is 11.8 @ 122mph. our times are always slower then usa times, this maybe due to many reasons. But i would be happy with that

Why are aussie times longer than us times same elevation?
I know you aussie's know your drag racing!
Is it track prep?
Fuel quality?
Humidity?
Curious to here why mad max would go slower over there than here.
Cheers,

40 degree temps with a negative DA and a different story is told . the stars need to all be aligned to run great times . a tenth or two is a blink of an eye so a lil test and tune should get u where u want too be .

I wonder what improvement in time would be yielded from 100 octane + drag tyres + no air filters + long tube headers + no cats + a new exhaust hooking into my Vath mufflers + carbon fibre bonnet / roof/ bootlid, no spare tyre oh and a 90% empty fuel tank...got to be worth a few tenths you'd think!

Thanks mate. The numbers dont lie...BUT I didnt think it was too bad for a road car with basically just an ECU tune and cats with no track prep and just stock headers and no x pipe / straight pipe/ h pipe whatever pipe!

There was another C63 there that day that apparently had slicks of some sort + powerchip tune + LT headers + full custom exhaust and apparently some sort of suspension tweak and it did 12.1 (congratulations Sonny!) .
Maybe its a slow track or something I dont know.
Lucky i dont do drag races for a living!

I believe sonnys c63 holds the aus record with 11.8 @ 122 (LT headers, dual 3in exh + Powerchip tune from sonny). City performance also went 11.8 yesterday but i dont know the mods or mph, but i am led to believe it has similar mods to sonnys.
Btw i have aftermarket cats and an x pipe, my best et is 12.2 @ 116.5, half track was 93mph. How ever with stock cats no x pipe 12.3 @ 115.5 with a 89mph half track, how ever excuses aside i had a faulty 02 sensor during my best et when i ran the 12.2 so i suspect i could of gone a 12.1.

I have asked for a copy of the timeslip showing all the details from teh guys running the whole thing. Waiting for thei response
Thanks mate, apparently no-one was happy with the dynodynamiccs numbers yesterday either! Looking forward to hearing your gains with those cargraphics headers and if you are happy with the improvement. Also interested to see how loud it makes your car too.

What is time for stock C63 in Quater mile? I thought that for a street tire its good time? With drag tire it should get you into 11 secs? Since I don't know the stock time I cant say if its fast or slow but I think in tire will make huge difference in time.

0-100 is pretty good as this equates to about 3.9 0-60.
Quarter mile times seems a bit slow compared to numbers in the US but trap speed will tell us more.
Congrats on being in the shoot out.
Give us a link when the magazine comes out
